This would appear the logical view, Tobes, especially as Fergs is going 'upstairs', but my mate was adamant. Doesn't seem right on the face of it.

Completely different. Ronaldo's upbringing and culture meant he was always going to want to play for Madrid. And he gave his absolute all until he left the club. And he's had nothing but wonderful things to say both about the club, and Fergie, since he left.

Rooney's flat out refusal to play in what was Fergie's last game at Old Trafford was disgraceful and was nothing more than a statement aimed to undermine and overshadow the whole occasion to honor a man that has given him so much. And where was he when Fergie gave the talk on the pitch at full time? All the players were there, as well all the coaching staff. The fact that he couldn't even put his differences aside to show respect to him says it all. He's a grade A ****.

He's about as world class as Suarez is.

He wasn't so loving when he was still at united, was he? He forced a move but unlike Rooney, he used the media.

We also don't know what went down behind the scenes though. Ronaldo my have asked to go back to Spain a polite, respectful manner and Fergie said no because he was too important to the team. Rooney at his first go around questioned the integrity of the club claiming we weren't trying to improve the squad. (We won the PL and were Champions League runners up that season).

So in essence Ronaldo wanted to leave but never questioned the clubs willingness to win or compete at the top level. Rooney wanted to leave and did the opposite of Ronaldo. If you watched the game against Madrid at Old Trafford, you'll exactly how much Ronaldo loves United. Have you ever seen a player with that painful, terrified look after scoring the goal that knocks out your former club? He clearly still loves the club and the players here, and has said so himself in multiple interviews. That's why we all still love him.

He might not of disrespected united in the same way Rooney did, but he tried to force the issue using the media.

I'm not saying Rooney is in the right but Ronaldo was just as bad, yet he doesn't get the abuse.

No he didn't. He handed in a transfer request, asked to leave, we negotiated a fee and the transfer was completed. He didn't undermine the team or the manager at all, he just asked to leave. And after he asked to leave and we said no, he played for another two seasons, winning two league titles and the CL, before finally leaving.

The only reason the media were so involved was cos he was the best player in the world playing for the best club in England. They are the ones who threw all the headlines around - Ronaldo never leaked a story or refused to play or circulated dodgy rumours. He just answered the questions he was asked, a bit naively at times, but that's no worse than any player has done.

"I should get out of Manchester as the circumstances are not right," he said.

"Nobody stood up for me and my desire is to play in Spain. Will it be Real or Barcelona? It will be one of them."

    Nothing naïve about this...

Damn, you're right. He clearly and blatantly forced a move with those comments he made....in 2006 <laugh>

**** me, you think we should hate him for wanting to quit England after Winkgate, and not forgive him for spending the next three years devoted to the club, winning trophy after trophy and picking up awards like they were going out of fashion?

In that case, I assume you feel exactly the same way about Drogba?

You can keep banging your drum as much as you want.
It won`t change our opinion of our ex-player, just like it won`t change my opinion of you being a plastic chav.
