we are no way the worst, dont know how many away games you have been to, apart from a handful , all crowds are the same its because you notice it more because its your team. go to the gunners place , last season i walked around to the other side to ask if this bloke could keep his voice down as the two in front of me were trying to have a conversation
I was watching on t'internet, and it was quite disappointing to see how many of our fans were sat moping with their head in their hands looking despondent after Soton scored. I know it was a shocking performance and can understand the frustration, but I wish they'd try singing and backing the team until the end. There's plenty of time after the game for feeling miserable!
Iv'e never heard Garth Crooks once say a good word about us, so in turn i'll say he's nowt but an irrelevant frog eyed wookie.
Can't argue with him to be honest..Our vocal support was nothing short of dire for such an important game..
First ten or so minutes it was mate then we had nothing to shout about for the next hour or so until we scored then lo and behold we decide to sit back again and let Southampton come at us. They inevitably scored and that was it both teams settling for the point, no thought for the fans who paid their hard earned to watch them (us or the Southampton lot). You could also say that the team performance was dire for such an important game as well, we've had 3 opportunities to get ourselves out of the **** and 3 times we came up short and, in the case of Villa needn't have bothered turning up.
It's not just a one off though mate..We are fast developing a reputation for being the worst vocal supporters in the league, and I'm sad to admit that it is deserved..
Fair one mate, or maybe the 40 odd years of nothingness and false hope have finally got to everyone. I was on a downer as soon as I saw the team yesterday could be the same for the rest who knows? Next season can't come quick enough mate.
Good God. It's simple. The crowd reflect what happens on the pitch. It's not our job to lift the players, their 50k a week should do that. It's their bloody job to lift the fans. If our 40,000+ loyal fans are sick to the back teeth of paying to watch ****e for decades it's hardly surprising. Our fans are amongst the best in the land, we just need summit to shout about. For once.
And here's me thinking that it has always been a two way thing, and that supporters can actually make a difference..
They can, of course they can. I applaud you MrRAWhite for I assume you sat there yesterday cheering singing and clapping till the very end of the dross you had paid good money to watch. Me? I listened on the radio and I have to admit to feeling less than positive as yet another crap season goes down to the wire. Thank God for Wigan.
Yes I did cheer to the end, as in my opinion that is what supporters actually do..I can never understand those who go to games and listen to the radio, but everyone to their own I suppose..
The Stadium of light is getting worse because there is to many kids & old man what bring nothing to the stadium. my opinion like.
Very well done mate..A few more like you and the players would go off on their holls thinking what a marvellous season they had... Strangely in the real world, if I have a bad day at work I'm soon told.
I, we should all just go to the match and sit quiet listening to our radio! I'm sure that is the most productive way to support our team..
Read back a little. I listen on the radio cause I don't go to games any more. I find I get less grief from the missus if I buy food for the kids instead of paying for 1000 mile round trips to watch footy.
MrRAWhite- I hope in that damning criticism you are including yourself. Of all the clubs to have endured so many false dawns, disappointments and embarrassments, and in an area such as County Durham, it is quite frankly a miracle that the club sees gates of even half of what we get. MrRAW you seem to be stuck in past, football has evolved and so have football audiences too. Change with it, or get left behind like a dinosaur. Like I said, cause and effect. No one can have a go at us with any credability, quite frankly. Oh and again to be frank, your tirade against us, the fans, completely undermines the argument you make.
Well if singing and shouting for my team is being a dinasaur, then a dinasaur I am, and proud of it....It isn't football audiences that are changing, because other clubs fans usually still get behind their teams in times of need, but our fans have been dire for a good while now, and it is a worrying trend which I would like to see change..And before you say that the team has also been dire, this has also been the same in the past, but it didn't stop the fans singing and shouting..
