Pardew's "I don't care if we lose 4-0" comment is absolutely disgusting if true.

How would he feel if we lost today, Villa beat Chelsea yesterday and then Lambert came out saying "I don't care if Wigan beat us 4-0 on the last day"??? I mean what about the integrity of the game?!!

He f*cking infuriates me, he really needs to stick to the rule of if you've got nothing good to say then don't saying anything at all! I mean honestly what goes through his mind during his interviews half the time???

I bet MA & DL care if we lose 4-0 given there's something like 600k per league placing at stake. I honestly believe he'll be sacked within 3 days of the season ending.

Quite right. Integrity of the league and respect to those other teams is really important.

More so though is the fact you're playing for club pride in the last home game of the season in front of fans you've disappointed far too often this term.
I think he'd care if he was expected to pay the gate fee to get in and watch us ritually humiliated once again.

    Baffling, absolutely baffling.

I agree. In the past I've usually agreed with Pardew but this entire sentiment is wrong in its entirety. 50,000 odd fans are expected to turn up to support the team, Tottenham - who we beat here earlier in the season - are relying on us to put in a performance and if I was AVB I would be making sure someone from the FA reminded Pardew of his responsibilities. This should be a fine at the very least, how is this not bringing the game into disrepute.

I realise he must have been on a high but the signal this sends out to the team and fans is entirely wrong. Look at Ferguson, United have had nothing to play for for weeks and has so many distractions today and yet we can all be sure he made sure the players knew what it means to pull on the shirt in front of the fans and yet again they won late on - you never give up or allow an opponent to take initiative even if you have nothing to play for other than pride.

How is he going to motivate the players after they hear him spout something like that??? Honestly I just don't get it, and as stated what about the fans that pay good money, the fans he ALWAYS says they need so much.

It's embarrassing to have a representative of our club make such comments, it's all the more embarrassing that those comments have come from our manager. I'd have him gone before the Arsenal game after those comments.

I've not seen the actual quote/statement/interview, but if he has indeed said this, then it is nothing short of madness.

As others have said the integrity alone is enough to question his credentials to be a Premier League manager. If that is genuinely his view, then he is simply not fit to manage ANY club. At ANY level.

IF he has been mis-quoted or 'led' by the press in their special way to get a 'quote', then I apologise to Mr Pardew. But my sense is he has been a complete dick.

I aint saying this cos I am a spurs fan but what a dick.
It moronic beyond belief to say that you dont care if you lose 4 nil at home on the last day of the season after having such a disappointing season. 50, 000 plus toon fans will be paying hard earned cash to see that match...sir bobby robson will be turning in his grave.
Glad you lot survived...didnt want you lot to go down.

Yeah. I've been more of a Pardon't supporter than most, but that actually ****s me off. I don't care where or what we are in the league, you should care about winning every game. At the end of the day I am a Newcastle fan who puts a fair bit of money into the club one way or another, and losing does not entertain me. I want to see a passion to win in every game. Fine, we are safe now. That's good. But giving Arsenal a good thrashing and potentially denying them a champions league place would be awesome. Have some self respect Pardont.

    Jesus Christ....over-reaction or what ?

This (Pardew's statement) if true, is one made more out of relief than anything else, i.e. thank **** we're safe...I couldn't care if we get tonked next week in our last game. In all honesty I don't give a toss either, this season CANNOT end quick enough for me and it truly has been one to forget. We've had very little to shout about, even less to get excited about week in week out and those responsible should be held accountable during the summer and issues identified and fixed...BEFORE NEXT SEASON STARTS ! Not in January when we're languishing in 17th place again and playing piss poor football.

I've got no doubt that Little and Large will make sure that things happen. We simply cannot have another season like this, and should be comfortably finishing above the likes of Fulham, Villa, Stoke and Swansea. No disrepect to these clubs of course but we have a good number of seasoned internationals in our squad whom we know are very very good players. We just need to get the best out of them on a consistant basis.

Regardless of whether Pardew keeps his job or not, we need at least one quality centre back, two if Colo leaves and a proven goalscorer. Personally I'd like to see a quality left back come in, Santon pushed over to RB and Debuchy pushed up the RW. Debuchy for me seems to be a ****ing liability in defence, but I've no doubt he is a quality player and with a good pre-season in him we will see a different player next season.

For me I've long ago lost most of what respect I had for Pardew, when the day he spouted that nonsense after we lost 3-0 to Sunderland. I remember he said "They can only dream of Europe" after getting walloped 3-0 on SJP, which told me he's a tool of the highest order, and that winning the manager of the year last season had indeed gotten to his head.

    Pardew out I guess

I wonder if Pardew dares to lead the players on a lap of honour at the end of this game?

Whilst I still wouldn't say it, its a throw away comment said in the heat of the moment which is now being taking out of context as another stick to beat him with. Are people really expecting him to tell the players to rock up and it doesn't matter? Does anyone really believe he cares little about the integrity of the club or the league? That's the really moronic thing. Just a mass over reaction but then that is hardly surprising.

Pure relief which I think everyone can relate to. Did he not even correct himself in the comments by saying "although I'm sure Spurs......."?

Why say it in the first place though??? It may well be a throw-away comment but only harm can come from him saying it. If we now lose (which is probable) it will of course be used against him but not just by our fans but fans of Spurs and Chelsea too.

If we weren't safe and Villa were, and Lambert made similar comments about their game vs Wigan and Wigan then went on to win said game comfortably you're telling me you wouldn't be up in arms about it???

    You can't defend the indefensible.

It was basically a poorly worded, tongue in cheek statement that's been taken out of context. Obviously he wants to beat Arsenal on the last day, but I think he was implying we can relax and enjoy it, play attacking football etc. So chill. This article suggests as much:

    http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alan-pardew-lets-go-out-3661421

Pardew's failings this year are what people should care about, not his throwaway comments.

You can tell he knows he made a mistake in saying it as he's come out to clarify his comments today.
