For those of you who live in the South of England, show your age by saying which of these you remember from ITV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55ck5WLGPME&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVJ6Dc1YSs4&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmT27wNdkCE&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB_cAplie6A&feature=related

All but the very first I have to say Dev. And the one common factor that binds them all together? Genial host Fred Dineage. He has survived every cull, streamline call it what you will by playing the, "loveable duffer", card all the way. It has served him well. TVS might as well have stood for TV Southampton, as that city was consisntently featured above all else, by a wide margin. South Today with Bruce Parker ruled in our house.
TVS was located next door to the first place i worked, Millbrooks(upholstery, floor laying) Did a 72 hour week, they paid me ã70 instead of ã180, went mad at the boss, got sacked, took them to court won a few grand for unfair dismissal. Plus offered my job back, told them where to shove that scum bastards.
Pieking - Fred is a far better/more professional sports presenter than that smarmy Saints loving pove on BBC South Today. I can't even remember his name he is so nondescript. Just an observation........
Fred is a true gent. Remember serving him with petrol at Howcroft & Webb Gosport Road garage in Fareham when I was a nipper and he was really polite then. Poor bugger had no hair then either!! As for the TV intros Dev, I remember all of the first 4 but very vague on the other 2 that you posted. PUP
Go back through the years, Pie king, and you will discover, that without Fred, Pompey would have had no voice, amongst the ocean of SFC loving, newscasters, reporters, weathermen and even Jack Hargreaves probably, (in his gimcrack, made up studio shed). Fred was a tiny blue island, almost lost, in an archipelago of red and white. All southern TV, was biased beyond belief towards Southampton, for many, many years.
"It's only natural to focus on the massively more popular team". I expect you found that with Brighton last season Pieking - them being champions of the first division, and all that goes with it
Perfect reposte. I have always felt that our teams should have had more coverage and maybe this would have helped us learn the names of a few of your players. Small teams are seldom covered though as you have all found out over time.
