Just seen them on the site, only the West Stand Lower at the moment, hopefully we can sell that out quickly and get other parts opened, the kids deserve a good crowd for how well they've done this season. Edit: £3 for members I think, gonna book some tickets this afternoon.
Thanks for that, Spurcat. I see that the 1882 crew are also aware of this too (so could be a turnout like the Nextgen game against Barcelona) .
Correction to my previous post. Tickets are priced £5, but reduced to £3 for season ticket holders and members.
Hopefully with a decent set of PL results this week, ST/members will feel sufficiently upbeat to come and turn up for the kids.
Is it fair to assume that all the teams left will have a full compliment of youngsters to choose from with most loanees returning? Does anyone know what Everton are like?, obviously not too bad to be in the semi's!, but I haven't seen much comment here about them.
They didn't qualify for the Elite group. And those that finished above them didn't fare too well against Spurs. They could have loans/injuries etc, but even so, a more or less full strength Spurs U21 is a serious test for any opposition.
The scouting reports on them suggest the Moyes way of playing is very much in evidence in this side. Very difficult to break down, not scoring many and not conceding many. In the pre-Xmas stage, they finished 4th, winning 6 and losing 6 of their 14 matches. They were placed in Tier One for the post-Xmas stages and won this league by 5 points, winning 6 and drawing 6 of their 12 matches. Interesting to note that in these 12 games, they only scored 17 goals and conceded 8, which is vastly different to our 43 scored in the first stage and our 34 scored in the second stage. Fingers crossed, we should see the return of the talents of Luongo, Pritchard, Obika, Mason and Smith for Monday. If so, then we surely stand a real chance of progressing.
The 1882 group are going to be based in block 16 for the game next Monday. This is the end block in the West stand lower where the stand meets the Paxton Road stand.
Where they were for the Barca Nextgen game. Will be nice for any of the boys who score at the Paxton end on monday.
Thanks SC. Am I right in saying we've beaten the others, so is anyone quietly confident of winning it?
"Am I right in saying we've beaten the others, so is anyone quietly confident of winning it?" Man Utd at the time of the our home game were according to their ITKs, not fielding near to their beat possible lineup. The 2nd half of the home against Liverpool was not pleasant. All this aside, if the returnees are in the starting lineups, the opponent will have to play exceptionally well or be very lucky.
We got beat 2-1 at Manchester way back in August, but since then we have beaten United 4-2 and Liverpool 1-0 at home and 3-1 at Anfield. The goals have dried up recently, we only scored two in our final 4 games, but we have been tighter at the back with only 3 conceded in our final 7. Prior to this, we were showing signs of fatigue, but we sorely missed the creativity of Pritchard and the discipline of Luongo. Just having those two back will be a massive boost.
I thought I'd read results in our favour , but as you point out now there can be an odd result that doesn't reflect the usual strength of team, and that can work both ways.
If the 1882 crowd turn up in the numbers they did for the Barca Nextgen game, it will be a good atmosphere tonight.
