There are replies to the tweet on the #watfordfc tweet page http://twitter.com/#!/search/watfordfc A very elaborate wind-up if it is
Nice piccies , but doubt any substance ,we have no money for the basics like players , so new stands I think are way off yet!
http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/new...-Ridsdale/article-3598779-detail/article.html If you read the above you can see that things are not always quite as straight forward as you might think. Split the ground from the football club, have a stand built that is leased back and use the income from the underneath to pay the leasing costs. Just a theory of course, but one of the new board is supposed to be a business development manager and Mr B did say that he thought there were opportunities to make more money from the place.
Fair point Harrow. I think the photos are fairly old, because the accompanying page talks about the key worker housing in the future tense. http://www.tth-architects.co.uk/?pid=41&ct=p&cid=39
So Plymouth can attract multi millions and we get Mr B At least we dont get risdale how many clubs has he ruined)
Looks like they were left with little choice..bit like us maybe? I suspect any work on the East stand won't happen till the SW corner is completed.
Certainly the way that matters have been talked about, I wouldn't be surprised to see the football club being told that it is a separate entity and has to stand or fall on it's own performance. In the past with the Vic being part of the same company there was the fallback of raising money against the value of the ground. If that is no longer there, it makes the football club operate in the way that many clubs outside of the league do. Plymouth had already been split up into numerous different companies dealing with football, ground development and shopping malls. It looks as if the administrator has had quite a time sorting out who owns what.
I drive past the stadium most days on my way to work. For anyone who is interested, there are definitely works going on now in the ground, scaffolding just visible. Have no idea what is actually going on, hard to see anything in a quick drive-past, but probably it's whatever Bassini said he would do in regard to lighting, pitch repairs etc.
That is good news nj.....would you like to stop and nose around, then report back? I am sure we could club together if you get a parking ticket.
I totally agree, twitter and other media outlets are all very interesting, BUT you do need to ask if the information actually makes sense!!!!! IMO the replacement of the East Stand is a mile off - even IF we were to be promoted to the Premier League the East Stand would come 2nd. At the moment the priority is to get cash into the club to reduce the debt burden. Let's face facts the budget for the club places us mid way down the 3rd division - it's all very well talk of "defying the odds", but Malky's job is going to be harder next season. One option which no-one has wondered is how much it would cost to repair the A/B section of the East Stand and move the family section from the North West Vic Road and make the whole Vic Road end available to away supporters. This part of the stand was originally closed a couple of years ago because the £20,000 maintenance bill was deemed "too much", but how many times is the current 2316 away allocation sold out per season?
"On a seperate note, another user on twitter tagged #watfordfc and asked "Has anyone else seen the two new large cranes being dropped off at the Vic today?" and uploaded a pic. My guess would be there is some movement on the South West corner. It would make sense to aim to get as much work done as possible when we still have the s*it pitch." I have just seen this on WFC forums. Seeing as I don't twitter, Mme would say otherwise. can anyone confirm the above?
I haven't seen that comment french. This is the page that Watford FC "tweets" should show up on: http://twitter.com/#!/search/#watfordfc
I am always doubtful about the WFC forums info, but from time to time someone puts a sensible post there.
