I've been hearing from a lot of people that Andy Dawson is set to move into the coaching staff while playing part time at another club (not sure who, people said Ferriby, Scarborough, Winterton, Hall Road etc). Is that allowed? Wouldn't you have to be contracted to Ferriby while having a contract at City? I know the lower down you go you don't need a contract, but surely at Ferriby's level you would? I'd have thought Dawson is either going to be a full time coach or move back to Scunthorpe?
That's a tough one. I had a quick read through the rulebooks of the FA and Football Conference. It could be possible in my opinion. You can be a non-contract player in the Football Conference. You're not allowed to receive any remuneration (besides travel expenses) but you're even theoretically allowed to play for multiple clubs. I'm not sure whether I'm right, have a look at the rulebook yourself and correct me Source: http://www.footballconference.co.uk/rules.php http://nav.thefa.com/sitecore/conte...ookRules_06-07.ashx/FAHandbookRules_06-07.pdf
I don't see what the problem is - one club can have his playing registration while the other can employ him as a coach. Given how many divisions apart they are, what could possibly go wrong... at least until they draw each other in the FA Cup third round!
Would be nice if we could sign him as a player-coach for a couple more years and loan him out to play somewhere like York, Scunny, Donny, Bratfud, Grimsby etc.... while he does his badges - maybe a day a week training with us and pre-seasons....? Still think he'll do a job for a league club, but an arrangement like that would be the best of both worlds if it could be made to work surely?
Look at Kevin Betsey. He plays in the Conference for Woking yet is on the Academy staff for Fulham so it can be done I think he'll go back for a season or two at Scunthorpe personally
Dawson could sign as a non contract player at as many clubs as he wants so long as each club is in a different league. He would receive expenses only and that is obviously open to negotiation. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that he couldn't accept a coaching job at City at the same time so long as this arrangement suited both parties. If, however, he signs a contract with a club then that is as far as it goes.
Andy Dawson could play with the reserve side (for his experience) in the BPL reserve league that we are now in. That would not hinder any coaching duties.
He's off back to Scunny according to the HDM. http://www.thisishullandeastriding....=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter#axzz2TR59EmRF ANDY Dawson is on the verge of a move back to former club Scunthorpe United as he finally prepares to call time on a glittering association with Hull City. The 34-year-old is understood to have held advanced talks with the Iron this week after being formally told by Tigers boss Steve Bruce his services would not be retained ahead of City’s return to the Premier League next season.
Would make sense. Don't know if he should drop down to League 2 just yet though. Maybe League 1, but he does probably hold sentimental value with Scunny.
If that's the case then good luck to him and a massive thanks goes with him from us all for such loyal and successful service to the Tigers.
Really pleased for Daws, he has been a great player for City over the years. I had slightly misunderstood what we had offered him, which was only a coaching roll if we got promoted (player/coach if we stayed in the Championship) but it's a testament to him that he wanted to keep on playing which is why he is going for the player/coach roll at Scunny.
Massive shame if Dawson leaves as Hull City need role models within the club and he would be a very good addition to the coaching staff. But you can understand Dawsons need to carry on playing as you are a long time retired. Lets hope that we see Andy Dawson back in a coaching role once he finally hangs up his boots. Andy Dawson is far far too good for league 2 but Scunthorpe will suit i guess. Could still play @ Championship level imo and say Doncaster Rovers should have been in for him imo. Whatever, i shall get to see Daws during the International shutdown weekends at the start of september and october. Great defender Andy Dawson and enjoy your pasture years at Scunny and thank you for all of the last 10 years. Thanks for the loyalty you have shown our club. We shall miss you. Its an end of an era at a few places this summer. SAF and Paul Scholes @ Man Utd, Jamie Carragher @ Liverpool, Kevin Davies @ Bolton, Andy Dawson @ Hull City. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ NB. Alot of ex.Tigers @ league 2 clubs next season apart from Andy Dawson that is. Liam Cooper @ Chesterfield Jon Parkin @ Fleetwood Town with possibly Paul Mckenna joining him. Bradley and East @ Portsmouth.
Looks to be a sunday. Possibly sunday August 11th as Scunthorpe will have a league game on the saturday 10th. I was hoping that Dawson would stay and coach as well as play for our reserve team in the barclays premier reserve league. BPRL.
I had a doctors appointment this morning, as I walked in and looked up at the digital board I saw 'Stanley McEwan please go to consulting room 1'.
I suppose in hindsight that it would be Scunny he'd be going back to and he won't have to move house either. Thanks for your loyalty and all the great memories Andy, you'll always be a Legend at City.
