For 12m i would let him go TBH if we got our money back i would let him go.

There is lots of player who could take his place.

    Gardener
    parker
    Joe Cole
    Charlie Adam
    Palacios
    Huddlestone
    Vieira
    Milner
Also dare i say it Mr Barton could be available

I agree pal, think it would be better looking over to the continent for a replacement as you get better value for money Sessegnon at 6m for example. France has some good central midfielders playing in there league the likes of Alou Diarra, Yann M'Vila, Etienne Capoue all who would offer miles better value for money than anyone from the premiership.

The volume of responses to this thread tells us all we need to know. It's probably complete bollocks but wouldn't it be nice if it was true. He has a track record of paying 7x over the odds for North East players though.

I'm obviouly in a minority of people who think Cattermole is a good player and wouldn't want rid of him. There was a stat somewhere that had him at our biggest tackler in midfield in the games he played and we kept more clean sheets with him in the middle of the park. Without him we've kept about 3 clean sheets as with him we've kept 10.

I want him in the side and fully fit as I think he's an excellent player. Needs more goals (but we all think that of all of our midfield - look at Malbranque who hasn't scored in 80 odd games and no-one seems to want rid of him) and £12m for a young English player with experience (and proven experience all in all) at PL level is nothing - I wouldn't sell him personally

Marcusblackcat, i'm with you on this one. I wouldn't sell Catts and i'd have sold Malbranque least two seasons ago. I'd Sell Meyler and Colback before Catts.

I've always been a massive fan of Catts, and anyone who knows my posts knows this, but £12million?

    Gotta take that.

Thing is for all i like him, he's easily replaced, in fact Meyler is a better footballer.

Craig Gardner is a great shout, Vaughan could do a similar job, Colback can do everything Catts does and more, we couldn't refuse this deal, in fact, i'd take £8million in a flash.

Id take the 12, if Mylers going to be ok for next season and we have Colbeck as well, I would use the money on star signings who can change the course of a game, or Samba and Roger Johnstone and use bents money for a good forward and backup, would like to see Sturridge. and Larson would be a straight replacement for Bolo, but we also need some back up in midfield

I think that both Meyler and Colback are better prospects than Clatter 'em all. We should be building a team around Colback.

i'd like to agree, but it's early days, so not too much expectations on him, lets see next season, but i have hope in him.

unless SB gets some big names in midfield and he may be frozen out a bit, let's hope not...

It's a no brainer for me. On his day he is a warrior for us, but those days are few and far between because of injury, lack of fitness and suspension. We can't afford to have a key player missing from the starting line up game after game and for that reason we should sell.

    Colback is our future.

This may be contraversial but would anyone take Barton? WIth only one year left on his contract we could get him at cut price. Plus....He lives locally..

I'll add a big yes to the Barton question (although it won't happen)

Are we saying that Barton has a sense of loyalty, that he has morals and a conscience? <whistle>
