to have a 2.5 million bid rejected.

Clearly we are holding out for more and those rumours that Graham has a clause on his contract MAY not be true.

WML had a poll a little while back on what was a fair price for Danny. The clear majority thought £5-6m taking into account the fees that other players were moving on for.

I've heard suggestions that West Brom offered the full £2.5m up front, to test whether Danny had a very specific release clause that QPR's bid didn't meet.

IMO it is no coincidence that the offers for him are both at this number. My lad showed me a Match of the Day magazine article, a nice double page spread - BUT at the bottom of the page it says Value £2.5m.

Stranger things have been known, but I reckon his value is now established. It is interesting to hear West Brom's offer was all cash NOW. This is clearly very attractive to Baz who needs to generate cash and quickly. I believe QPR's offer was £1m now, another £1m next summer with a "bonus" £500k if they stayed up. That offer really was derisory and would not satisfy the cash requirement, because Carlisle would come knocking for their 15%.

Anyone who thinks DG is worth £5m + is going to be very disappointed IMO - yes Baz needs the cash, but its not going to happen. Just for clarity Malky would not get any of this money, he needs to wait until more cash has come in.

I reckon he'll end up going for £3.5-£4M. Clubs fighting over signing him can only help, and the longer we keep him the more he'll be worth! The transfer merry-go-round hasn't started yet, and the fact he's drumming up Premiership interest can only increase his value.

If Norwich have an offer for CMS of £3m rejected for a league one proven goalscorer!
Then you think a proven goalscorer at championship standard is worth less money! Elixir I have to disagree with you!
Add to that DG has produced now for 2 seasons(thus not a one season wonder) and the fact he has done well with relegation favourites!
Anything under £4-5m would be a steal!
I understand that we are desperate to sell! But DG is still contracted to us for over a year with the option of another, which the club will implement!
I am glad you do not have the final Decision Elixir!

In the skysports report yesterday it was reported that Watford did not want to let him go, and with him being under contract to them they do not have to let him go unless the right offer comes along. That looks like a classic piece of talking the price up to me; although they may want to keep him the finances will dictate otherwise.

I am always very dubious about the cost of players as reported in the press. I can only think that they take a stab at a price or get fed information by agents who have their own agenda anyway.

i would be very disappointed if he went for less than £3.5m. He must be worth more than CMS..for one thing, he's proven in the Championship (though CSM did well the year they were in the same league), and he's younger which must count for something. i just hope we don't 'give him away'..

In my opinion Danny is worth £5m+ - whether we will eventually get that who knows. But these are very early days and I expect Watford have had plenty of enquiries and are waiting for the auction to get under way. I would consider it very bad business if Danny left us for £2.5m.

I hope he isn't thinking of selling some of the younger players who could be worth a lot more in the future!

I would like to know whether Watford have to let him go if they are not happy with the amount offered - I guess not -but he had some sort of clause in his contract stating that if a Prem club came in and bid £2.5m for him he could talk to them

"The Chronicle understands..." - to my mind implies that this is probably a non-story - just a tid-bit thrown in to keep gullible Geordies reading until next season. Judging by the comments at the foot of the story, said readers have over-inflated opinions of their club and lack a sense of reality.

I think WFC have made it quite clear that they don't have to sell and won't for such a derisory offer.
