So everyone in the media has been saying that today, we ensured our premiership status for next season.

But correct me if I'm wrong, but we have 41 pts with one game left and Wigan have 35 pts with 2 games left. Therefore, is it not theoretically possible for Wigan to win both of their games and us lose, resulting in an equal points standing?

I know we have a superior goal difference, but a tonking at Man City, along with the above scenario could overturn that.

    Am I missing something?

If wigan win both matches, Villa will remain below us on 40 points!

Villa have 40pts and still need to play Wigan, it's impossible for both teams to go above us.

Please please PLEASE win on Tuesday Wigan and send Villa down.

Wouldn't that just be great, Lambert wouldn't be dancing on the fecking touchline then. Unfortunately Beef, IMO Wigan will make history tomorrow though when they will become the first team ever to be relegated the same season as winning the FA Cup. A feat that has never happened in well over a hundred years <ok>

I'd prefer Wigan to stay up, Sunderland will find it very hard to get anything in their last game and the fascist can get sent down. Lots of sunderland fans would take that pill if it hastened Mussolini's departure

I would be ecstatic if Villa went down.
However, I do think Arsenal will batter Wigan tomorrow.
But wouldn't it just be wonderful if Wigan win, I would just love to see the sight of a sweating Lambert on the touchline on Sunday.

If Wigan win, I might actually not watch a Norwich game for a change. A winner-takes-all shoot-out with Villa involved would be very interesting viewing.

Interestingly, Southampton are also certainly safe even though they only have 40 points. There are currently 3 teams with 40 points (Saints, Fulham, Villa) and one on 39 points (Sunderland). Assume Saints lose next Sunday, and both Sunderland and Fulham climb above them (even if just on GD in Sunderland's case). If Wigan win both their remaining games and so also climb above Saints, Villa stay below Saints on goal difference and are relegated. If Wigan don't win both their games, they finish with at most 39, so again, Saints are safe. For Villa to lose and still overtake Saints would require Saints to lose to Stoke by 12 goals which is, er, unlikely! <ok>
