And now Pirelli are considering changing their tyres, even though some teams have only just adjusted to them and started being successful, so I think maybe that will also help Mercedes. Even though they can't help themselves with unlimited financial input and a couple hundred technical staff.
I have just listened to that, he was not insulting anyone, the team was telling him to slow down becuase the reare tire was wearing down, he was tell them, he was now going so slow, that he was being passed be a car that was 3 seconds slower in qualifying. If he slowed down anymore he might as well stop.
You don't have to keep your mouth shut about Hamilton EMSC... If you think he had a shocker then say so. You're entitled to your opinion. I don't think he was disrespecting Williams though, I think they'd be the first to agree that their car this year is a stinker... so bejng passed by it was a strong indication of how bad Hamilton and Merc were doing in that race. And hey, I have a massive soft spot for Williams from Mansells 3 spells with them.
Kimi consistent as always. I am finding it frustrating though. Don't think the Lotus is quite as fast as this time last year, want to see some more victories coming Kimi's way pretty sharpish. Ferrari clearly have the best car at the moment, that much is obvious. I'm convinced they have launch control somewhere in that design as well. Both cars always seem to get off the line way too smoothly pretty much every time.
Yeah I agree he needs to start picking up the top spot results soon, otherwise them scarlet cars are going to fly off. Bit of a tough ask to be honest, because it seems Lotus have to wait till the end of the race to attack, which is normally to late. So they need to be quick from the off. Don't know about the idea of launch control though. Kimi will be in the fight till the very end I reckon, I think it will be much more harder for Vettel though.
Kimi really is the man at the moment! I thought it was a massive mistake coming back last year.... but he shut me up pretty bloody quickly. I'm massively impressed with him!
I'm not sure if the Ferrari launch control stuff is serious or tongue in cheek, but they spend more time than anyone else practicing their starts. Apparently they do one pretty much every time they leave the pits during free practice. I don't know why more people don't spend as long on it, they're usually good for a place or two off the start, that's like having an extra few tenths in Q3.
to be honest i was just having a go at Hamilton fanboys; who have been giving Button a huge amount of stick this year for his complaints about the car and his performances, then when something similar happens to Lewis the F1 articles on the BBC website are just full of people demanding the tyres be changed, and he seems to escape criticism altogether, and its the same with their status in the team; Perez finishes ahead of Button and the whole team dynamic is apparently shifting in his favour and he's clearly proving how much quicker he is, Rosberg finishes ahead of Hamilton and itâs just....meh, like people can't bring themselves to doubt Hamilton's the best driver out there by miles. Having said that childish stuff i really don't get why teams refuse to react in F1; Williams and McLaren, the car design is clearly fundamentally wrong for both, Williams refusal to react has just seen them slump further and further down the field and McLaren seem like they could easily end up the same way if they continue to just assume the car design will magically work at some point down the road, and its the same for race strategy; Mercedes wtf was even going on today their cars were tumbling down the field and they seemed to care more about the temperature of 1 tyre than changing the strategy and just having some kind of reasonable pace, i remember seeing Sauber doing this a couple of times; where they're losing whole seconds each lap and yet they still refuse to react and pit, just seems odd to me.
I often get the feeling that the boards on BBC are full of people either banned from proper F1 forums or people with serious anger issues F1 is supposed to be a sport watched for enjoyment
Daniel Ricciardo ‏@danielricciardo24h Not a bad day. Very close to the top 10. Eyes looking forwards tomorrow and hustle this baby in the points This guy did just that, he is smooth.
Pirelli changing the tyres won;t help Mercedes as the cars genes are flawed. Whatever compound is run, Merc have struggled to keep them in one piece if their drivers dare show a bit of pace. Button moaning is just funny as it seemed to happen every race and was always the same thing! Drivers having a pop down the radio is nothing new and everyone of them does it. The difference is what the broadcasters allow us to hear that makes people think one driver moans more than any other. Then again, I doubt Alonso was having much to complain about other than boredom today it was that easy for him in the end!
This is what happens when motor-sport gets marketed to your average Neanderthal. I miss the days when it was a little more niche.
The radio messages are time delayed by the time we hear them. They'll pick the snippets they think are interesting/funny
For those who want to hear everything theres live feeds on twitter for all radio events. I tend to watch them when races become very tactical.
I don't agree that it's to make them look bad. Everybody else on the grid can't be collectively ranting, it's mostly normal chatter. When they moan yes it gets picked out because it is interesting, but I don't think there is one angry man sat there picking out one person is moaning over another driver. They do everyone.
