There are glimmers of hope within the team but without Sess and Fletcher you do lack bite. I think things can be over-stressed, you need to bring in 3-4 players who are first team standard to take the place of a few poor poor performers. That tied with a fit squad will have you a few positions higher next season.

I think a complete overhaul is a risk, and not one you need to take. Evolve the squad over time by easing out a few players here and there and improving quality, revolutions are either extremely expensive (buying out contracts, signing players from teams who want to keep them) or highly risky (signing players who don't have prem experience, etc).

I was sad when O'Neill went even though I think time has shown it was a bounce of PDC coming in which has kept you up (don't think you would have beaten us or Everton with O'Neill). The next test is where you go long term, hiring PDC was a leap of faith and surely Ellis has to back him now in the summer, otherwise he would be hanging hi out to dry.

ps. Wigan wont beat Arsenal so you are safe, and that's great news. After Newcastle, Sunderland were the other team i really didn't want to see go down. Without local rivals the league just isn't as interesting. I suspect we will now finish above you this season but I doubt anyone cares, we'll all just be happy to have avoided relegation!

I think Graham simply is what he is. Never a great player but not suddenly useless. In a team playing well and getting good form he'll put in a hard-fought performance and bag enough goals in a season to earn his keep. When the chips are down he still seems to work hard but lacks the talent or ability to score goals from nothing. In his defence I think he could do a job with Sess, Johnson and perhaps a third AM playing off him. He is a decent 'option' but if you have to rely on him for your cutting edge then yes you are in a bad place - its a bit like us and Ameobi!

I hope Wickham proves me wrong but so far since he arrived I haven't seen anything apart from graft which isn't enough in the Premiership.

Is there a slight chance your looking for a Geordie striker? Heard he could be the next Shearer.

Maybe, I could get pretty desperate depending on which Cisse turns up next season. Beyond me how a player can become so profligate.

I agree with most of the sentiments here. Whickham and Graham are champoinship standard at best, the other culprits are not good enough, not bothered or just past it. There is a hell of a job to be done stay up or not. What a sickening end to a season, they could not even beat Southampton at home FFS
