So Arsene Wenger is the longest serving manager out of the top 9 teams. Joint second are Brendan Rogers, AVB, Steve Clarke, Michael Laudrup. Sums up the musical chairs that is the premiership.
Just being pedantic But in all seriousness that is a seriously weird stat. Could be one of the reasons English football has been on the decline recently, just a complete lack of stability everywhere. Big players leaving, managers being sacked quickly etc. Although it's difficult to ascertain which came first: the decline in quality or the instability of the top clubs.
Thank you Would be interesting to see a table of Premier League managers reigns. If not one fancies it I might do it later (depends if I can get the eldest off the PC)
Fergie: 26y 6m Wenger: 16y 9m Moyes: 11y 2m Pulis: 10y 6m Martinez: 3y 11m Mancini: 3y 6m Pardew: 2y 6m Jol: 1y 11m Allardyce: 1y 11m Rodgers: 11m Lambert: 11m Clarke: 11m Laudrup: 11m Houghton: 11m AVB: 10m Rafa: 7m Redknapp: 6m Pochettino: 4m Adkins: 2m Di Canio: 2m (I've only gone to the month so they may not be strictly in the right order give or take a few days)
Gerrez, My initial point was that once all the management changes go through then out of the top 9 teams in the EPL after Wenger the longest serving have only been in position 12 mths.
Yeah, I know, but that seems like you (or whoever you stole it from) was trying to.make a stat fit IMO
Well if rumours are true and Mancini has been sacked and taking ferguson and moyes moving clubs just leave 6 teams that have had a manager over a year
Still, we know Fergie and Moyes will be moving on. Plus, Mancini and Pardew are likely to be sacked and there is a good chance Martinez won't be where he is in the list come August (relegation and/or moving clubs?). So other than Wenger and Pulis, it looks a bit grim anyway
True but all the following will have been in post a year by the time these changes come into effect... Rodgers: 11m Lambert: 11m Clarke: 11m Laudrup: 11m AVB: 10m Houghton will is on 11m but will be in the Championship by then. Small chance Lambert could be there with him.too
Hodgson - left for England Rodgers - left for Liverpool Ferguson - retiring Moyes - left for Man Utd Benitez - short term contract Its not like chairmen have been going crazy and sacking people for a poor result or two. I think its just something of a statistical quirk.
It is still very odd that so many managers would have changed in just over 12 mths by the end of the season.
