Just seen this picture of Perez's McLaren on Sky. Is that from the end of the race? if so it may excuse the tyre saving orders somewhat! please log in to view this image Also Pirelli admit they got it wrong and suggest there will be new tyres for Silverstone. http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1...es-after-stinging-criticism-of-the-Spanish-GP
Spanish GP: Nico Rosberg says Mercedes race issues are inexplicable "I didn't expect it to be that tough," said Rosberg. "I thought we would be in a better position. "It was really difficult out there, but why? Why on one lap are we so fast and on a long run so slow? It's strange, and it's not just one axle, it's front and rear. Both are struggling and there's no explanation." "After the first stint I thought 'who knows, maybe I can keep them behind all day?'" he added. "I knew they were quicker but I was quite comfortable and doing what I wanted to do. "But then I just went backwards so badly. It was unbelievable. "It's so strange, so inexplicable. I'm working with my set-up just towards the race, not even for qualifying, and we're so fast on one lap and then in the race so slow."
Spanish GP: Sebastian Vettel says tyres only reason Red Bull lost "I think we can be happy with fourth - or at least we have to be," he said. "The first three cars were a little too fast for us and in looking after their tyres they did a better job today." "If you talk about race distances, then it's a different game," Vettel said. "I think the car is quick enough, but there's something we do to the tyres to make them wear more. "Three people did better today so we need to catch up. We are not going to the pace of the car, we are going to the pace of the tyre." "I think we tried to hang on to the three-stop for too long in the race and had to admit towards the end we wouldn't make it,"
Tyres are a joke, but as always in racing I suppose the best teams adapt to it quicker than the others.
We saw a big cloud of smoke ahead of Alonso, that would have been the two McLarens and then Perez dropped 2 seconds to Button so i guess it was a massive flat spot then.
Race winner Fernando Alonso has to report to the stewards ... for "receiving an object after the end-of-race signal". A Spanish flag...
I love how Hamilton just gets a free pass for whining when he doesn't have a good car under him, yet Button gets absurd amounts of criticism. Something makes me think if it were Hamilton just cruising to race and championship victory suddenly the rules would be fine and a lot of people (in this country at least) would be telling the other teams to just deal with it and build a better car.
A rule was brought in ages ago in the mid 90's to stop drivers picking up flags on the slowing down lap as some were just getting too big! Don;t think it's heavily enforced though. Would be the equivalent of a football player taking his shirt off and being sent off for it........... ooh, football again! please log in to view this image
This and his disrespect to Williams, we know they are slow but at least have some common sense and keep your trap shut. I am happy he is struggling in a way, so he actually experience what Williams are experiencing. Rosberg seems to be doing much better all season, and keeps his head down.
Why should he keep his trap shut? So he lets some emotion out during a race? You'd prefer a robot would you? 'driver in shock outburst during race' You're just gleaming that he has finally had a bad race and in someway this makes you happy as you think he can now 'feel' what Schuey went through the last 3 years. Rosberg doing much better? Really? Really?
Quite. Nope, I didn't say that, don't put words into my mouth. Rosberg has been doing well all round yes, better than Hamilton yes, I know that's hard to take in. He was unlucky in Oz and China. Team orders in Malaysia, he has more performance in him. I wouldn't say I expect more from Hamilton, because I don't... but publicly taking the piss out of a team of the same nationality is a bit stupid. I have said many times before, a good driver keeps composed and talks it over with the team. Not rant and rave like a stroppy child.
