Possibly true. Noone in my family likes Rugby so its never been a thing for us. Where I live there's Union fans but they seem few and far between, apart from the In Laws who one of the wife's nephews played for Northampton Saints. But they dont have any axes to grind about footy, in fact they all support Posh. I just think the better thing is to ignore them, and look smug. If I lived up there, that's what I'd do.
Ah right, you're having a different conversation to the rest of us. Fair enough. Anyway, FC fans reading (I can see you are ), what about joining in and seeing where the common ground is so we can move forward as a City?
We accomodate both because we are a fairly large City, but which sport makes us famous globally? They may have heard of Hull in Australia, NZ and Papua New Guinea due to our underachieving RL clubs but its Hull City that makes Hull famous around the world due to the Premier League, do you suppose anyone in China, Thailand, Ireland, Egypt or Brazil has heard of Hull FC?
Well I have slept on it and I still don't get how a bunch of blokes chasing a rugby ball around on a Sunday have a negative impact on Hull City. Is it a stadium issue? a pitch issue? If they want to be Man U fans or Leeds fans then so be it. I accept that its slightly annoying but what has that got to do with the price of eggs. Of course I don't live there anymore so I don't have to put up with tubby lard types wearing Leeds United shirts every day but I don't worry about tennis fans or golf fans bad mouthing city, why is rugby any different. Probably another whoooosh moment but why the hell are we worried about what rugby fans think about Hull City, now that's a genuine question as I would really like to know what the fuss is about
Completely agree we have a bitter 5th column who are anti-City, the size of this faction worries me if we ever go to a Brady referendum on the stadium ownership/expansion, tubbylards do not want a bigger stronger Hull City, there will be work to do on that campaign trail.
Thank you original, now I get it. So its a local political thing you are worried about and the tubby lards might try and block our progress through the ballot box. Well yeah I could see you getting pissed off about that, are they that bitter about city doing well to do such a thing?
This is my point. You are only reading what you want to read where did I claim anything different to what you have said...... The sports are not comparable IMO Football is the largest sport in the word and Rugby League is a minority sport in comparison. Do you deny that the RL clubs have done there bit in promoting the City the past the answer is yes or no ... Like I said it's dick swinging my sports bigger than your sport it doesn't make any difference at all at the end of the day. Like I said I follow both City and FC, and yes I have sat in Boothferry Park with only 3 or 4 thousand there and at the Boulevard when there where less than 2,000 there. I also don't think that we are that famous around the world for our football we are just a little bit more famous now we are in the Premiership again but WORLD famous Naaa. Manchester United Liverpool etc are World famous. Just my opinion take it or leave it !!!!
I'm good at whoosh moments On the other hand maybe you aint explaining yourself very clearly and the problem is yours
I think that and some of the other issues are why out of town fans don't get it. The issue for me is that their paranoia is unfounded. Any apparent ill feeling tends to be a reaction to negativity and snide comments about the football club.
Read the thread John, we have anti-city rugby supporters who hold civic power in Guildhall who stand in the way of Stadium expansion, their mentality is that its big enough to hold a RL derby game, we know we can't become an established Premier League side in a limited 25K Stadium.
I'd say they'v done very little for the positive image of this City over the years. RL is hardly even a big sport in it's home land along the M62, never mind England or the world. But what YOU are doing is dick swinging. It doesn't matter which is bigger, RL fans should enjoy their sport, football fans enjoy ours and some people enjoy both. Pissing about with which is bigger is a part of what holds us back and why I made my initial response to you.
Seriously, I think you should go and read the Tubbylard's message board and put some of your ideas down in posts. You might see a very different reaction to the one you are getting on here and it might help you understand what DMD is on about.
And here lies the real problem. HCC and its visionless mob. They judge too much on the basis of where Rugby stands in the city and not football. On another line, I once had a conversation with a Man Utd supporting Hull FC fan. He asked me who my Rugby team was. I replied Wigan to which he was shocked. How can you support Wigan when There are Hull and Rovers in the city. He did not get it at all. Oh the irony. It took me 10 mins to explain about his Man Utd loving instead of City. He told me I was stupid. Well there we go ........
I see OLM's been given a final warning for not toeing the part line on there. They have a poor reputation with RL fans, but that can't be discussed on there either. Open discussion would benefit BOTH sports, which has to benefit Hull. That's MY point. It shouldn't be a contest between us.
Don't underestimate the amount of joint pass holders, they are significant and majority love both teams equally, when I watch FC and look around I can see dozens of city fans and I know it's similar at Rovers
Like I said reading what you want to read it ...... the answer was yes or no not very little but that would be difficult say yes wouldn't it? ... you can call it how you like. The initial question was Football city or RL city ... Answer it doesn't foooking mater
