As things are going quiet as we approach the end of the season, as a variation on the Jokes thread we occasionally have how about favourite quotes.

They can be witty, erudite or just plain crazy. Only condition is you have to identify the person who originally said it ( only fair to give credit were credit is due).

    To start the thread off:-

"Marriage is like the witness protection program: you get new clothes, you live in the suburbs and you're not allowed to see your friends anymore."
    - Jeremy Hardy

My new sig is a quote, but does anyone know who said it?

There is no prize as I am to cheap.

Don’t be so humble; you are not that great. ― Golda Meir.

My sig is also a quote from a film but I very much doubt anyone will know which. Very old.

guessing your sig is probably Bush junior, sounds like something he would say.

cant remember the saying, but he said a stupid one when mentioning about enemies of the us and it sounded like he said he would do worst.

'All riches come from iniquity, and unless one has lost, another cannot gain.
Hence that common opinion seems to me to be very true, the rich man is
unjust,or the heir an unjust one.
Opulence is always the result of theft,if not committed by the actual possessor,
    then by his predecessor'

He said something like: "Our enemies are resourceful. They never stop thinking of new ways to harm our country and our people- and neither do we."

One of my favourite Bushisms is: "The trouble with the French is they have no word for entrepeneur." Although some try to deny he actually said it, it sounds about right for him.

    It's a miracle we're all still alive.

Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish it.
