There are no certainties in this life Roo!!! We could just as easily end up with another Darren Bent.....
As shocked as I am at Ade, his MOM award didn't hide the first 20mins as described by myself, and Mr. Neville in commentary as...useless! He was, he still loses possession too much with bumbling first and second touches, his confidence was still shot aswell, remember our move early in the first half breaking into their box with some quick short passing, Ade was passed to near the pen spot and he chose to turn it into a one-two, an angle that wasn't really on anyway...shoooot! A confident striker would hit that on the turn. As long as he continues in the next 2 games we can talk about getting rid of him later.
He doesn't have the same relationship with Villas-Boas that he had with Redknapp. That in itself isn't an insurmountable issue because every manager doesn't always love every player. But there does need to be some respect and Adebayor has not always shown the coaching staff the respect he should do. There have been reports of several serious confrontations on the training ground and certainly his absence from the squad for a recent game was down to a disciplinary matter. I was a little surprised more wasn't made of his goal celebration in the Everton home game when he sprinted to the bench to hug another player. That was a deliberate "up yours" to a member of the coaching staff with whom both players had tangled with during that week. I do feel his display on Wednesday came too late in the season to warrant any more chances for him.
What we do with Ade depends on who or if we sign another striker IMO. He has more ability than most we could sign and his 'attitude' is down to the subjective view of the observer. I'm not sure either way tbh, because he has not had a trouble free season. I would hope that we sign other players that make the decision easy, but I am not banking on it.
What happened? Napoli are out of the picture, the chairman wants to sell to us and AVB wants him. I filled in the rest myself
If he plays out of his skin and we qualify for the CL I don't have a problem giving him a new contract. But only as part of an expanded attack with say 4 out and out strikers.
He is short of confidence mate, that's for sure. But equally, the criticism of his first 20 mins the other night was OTT as well. He was putting himself about from the start and while things didn't happen for him immediately, he continued to out the effort in and got his rewards. I think that Neville's comments were a cheap shot against a sitting target - and for someone that appears to generally play the fair line, I thought unfair. It wasn't as if any of our lot showed anything in the first 20-25 mins was it??
Tried to post and the site 'hung'. When it resumed it had reverted back to the thread source page. The 'hanging' happened a few times yesterday as well, but I wasn't posting then, so was just a minor annoyance.
He has not put in a performance close to that anywhere this season, injuries or not. Ball sticking to feet. Not being bundled off the ball. WTF does that have to do with "confidence" ??
As ever, I bow to your inside knowledge mate. I have to rely on what I see of the players interaction with teammates etc and that always seems pretty positive. Have to see what transpires in the summer. maybe AVB is just bigging him up to offload????? Levy orders.....
was that when he went over to hi-5 benny, who was also on the bench? i seem to remember that happening, but can't remember if it was the Everton game or not.
There's never any certainty, but i'm sure we can gine someone who'd cost us less each week who could bang in more than 4 goals in a season and generally put in a better performance each week.
Mick is trying to sort site, douple posts etc and has taken it down a couple of times to do this. Perhaps the day of the cup final was not the best time, although the extra posters may have highlighted the problems. It is being worked on at least.
@SpursOfficial: Team v Stoke - Lloris; Walker, Caulker, Dawson, Vertonghen; Lennon, Huddlestone, Parker, Dempsey; Adebayor, Bale. #THFC #COYS @SpursOfficial: And our subs v Stoke - Friedel, Naughton, Carroll, Dembele, Holtby, Sigurdsson, Defoe. #THFC #COYS
We really should have played holtby instead of Dempsey. Huddlestone and Parker will be having to take care of stokes rugby threat, which will cripple us going forward. Don't see what Dempsey is going to bring over holtby.
He could also be bigging him up in an attempt to get 2 more performances like the othe night out of him.
The hoof will come from any opportunity. AVB must think Dempsey and Parker will do a shift in MF, and Hudd will have the time and space to play his pinging game.
