Some wumming from Ade.... http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/206814.html?CMP=OTC-RSS# Emmanuel Adebayor is determined Tottenham will not be left disappointed this season Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has said he hopes to "kill" Arsenal's hopes of a top-four finish with successive wins to end the season as Spurs fight to secure Champions League football. Adebayor, 29, scored his fourth league goal of the season in the midweek 2-2 draw with Chelsea and looked in good touch despite having a difficult season under Andre Villas-Boas. The Tottenham boss hit out at recent criticism of Adebayor's form and the Togo international believes he can be the driving force in Spurs' top-four charge, which rests on his former club Arsenal slipping up. "My head, my concentration, my focus, my life belongs to *Tottenham. Arsenal was a different life. Now, I prefer Tottenham and *everything belongs to Tottenham. I don't care what Arsenal do, what they achieve. That's not my *problem anymore," he told the Mirror. "If I can kill them, I will *definitely kill them because we are in a game where you have to do your best for your team. And now I'm in *Tottenham, I have to give *everything to Tottenham. Of course, Arsenal can drop points. Why not? They have dropped points throughout the season and they can drop points again now." Tottenham travel to the Britannia Stadium on Sunday requiring all three points to keep the pace with Arsenal, who host Wigan on Tuesday. Adebayor has urged his team-mates to focus on finishing the season with maximum points rather than worrying about the results of their fellow top-four contenders. "We have two games more and if we talk more about Arsenal and Chelsea, that will kill us. We don't have a choice, we have to beat Stoke and take six points from our last two games," he added. "I don't see why we can't finish in the top four this year. We just have to keep the belief alive. No matter what, we have to get into the Champions League and I am positive we will."
We'd be mad to give him a new one. That performance last week against Chelsea probably had 1 or 2 reasons behind it. How can someone be so ****e all season and then play like a different person?! He can say what he likes about "his life belonging to Tottenham", but it doesn't wash with me.
Sounds like our Damiao deal is close now, can't see us keeping him on as a 3rd striker if we can help it. Still, I'd start him today whilst he's got some fire in his belly.
Spurcat the heartbreaker. Though I have been joking this week that Levy has found a "smallprint" clause in the contract that Adebayor and his rep had not accounted for (hence wearing his kit and appearing to be possessed by the spirit of Steve Archibald) .
Grrrrrrrrrr!!! This bloody site - just lost a 5 min scribe!!!! In short - not banking my hopes on last Weds either, but also not keen to ditch him. There were contributory factors which disrupted his season (well documented.....) and when he has played, othe than on a couple of occasions that I can recall, there was no lack of effort - just direction. Also, he seems to be part of the 'team' and AVB has been pretty consistent in is support of him, which suggests he has been playing a role requested of him. Certainly there is no suggestion that he has been a disruptive influence in the dressing room - we have one of the most 'together' group of players I can remember. If Weds does mark the resurgence of the 'old' Ade of 2011/12 then that is great, but he's only got two more games to show that - which is clearly not going to convince anyone. But either way - selling or keeping - we need his stock to rise for now!!!
if it wasn't for the money we'repaying for him, i wouldn't necessarily be so keen to ditch him. But the reality is that we can get a much better striker who would be on cheaper wages.
