Newcastle United have made their move for want-away Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy – even though the French international snubbed them in the January transfer window, writes the Sunday People.

The Toon hierarchy have contacted Remy’s representative and they are hoping that by making an early move, they can steal a march on Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs who are also all keen on Remy.

In normal circumstances Newcastle would not be expected to go back for a player who publicly turned them down just months ago, but his £8million release clause at Loftus Road is a telling factor.

We wouldn't be trying to unsettle him before we play against his side would we.................:D

I'd still take him regardless of the past as he is a bargain at 8m and looks handy. Wages and competition likely to be the issue if there is more to this than simple unsettling tactics.

    Pardew's new identity.

"Right, Mike, Derek...here it is. Phase 1, buy Remy, so that we can score loads in the next few phases."

    "He went to QPR, Alan."

...furious ruffling of post-it notes and scraps of paper....

    "..bollox."

Fecking hell Nedders we get it. You, like many others want Pardew out. Lets not turn every thread into a Pardew mock or out thread though, its becoming boring and tedious.

The timing certainly makes you wonder if it's more about the unsettling of the player, but I'd be pretty excited if we could get Remy and Carroll as the two strikers we are meant to be targeting. Think with Remy though, his high wages and increased interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool make it unlikely.

Remy or PEA for the fast striker role. Carroll for the human battering ram with some skills role.

Carroll and Remy/PEA would give our strikeforce a very different look. Toothless to positively ravenous.
