Good for him, He deserves another year at least and, if Mourinho comes back, he'll get it. If he were to go to say LA Galaxy as their marquee player on loadsa $$$ for 3-4 years, who could blame him. You get the feeling about him though that he would be happy to end his career at Chelsea.
It's ridiculous that he might not be offered another contract, he showed again today how important a player he is. It was a very watchable game too.
I still find it ridiculous that penalties are counted in goalscoring tables (at best they should only count for half).
203 goals from midfield, ****ing unbelievable, specially in the ever more defensive game modern football is becoming. Great player just a shame he didn't maximise his England potential but that could be due to the lack of class around him as much as anything.
Strange thing is that applies to loads of England players. Scholes, Lampard and Gerrard have all had fantastic club careers yet none of them achieved anything even remotely impressive for England. Owen had a great few years but then pretty much ended his career at about 26 years old. Rooney might even fit into that category. Didn't he score 40 goals in a season immediately before having a ****e World Cup? What happens to these players?!
Though that's true, I'd have left Scholes off the list, I think he often looked England's best player.
Rumours and speculation he is to get a One Year extension to his contract. But the fact that its become such an issue is a joke but typical of Chelsea as a club. I bet there are not many on here who have seen Bobby Tambling play ? The guy whose record Lampard has just broken today @ Aston Villa in a 2-1 win.
Why ? 12 yards or 30 yards. A goal is a goal. Also, i hate halfs just like 99p £1.99 and so forth. Round figures are best.
True, and Gerrard often looks England's best player nowadays, but considering the achievements they got for their clubs, their international careers have been disappointing.
Yeah, obviously when it comes to games, a penalty is as good as anything else. Just, when looking at goalscoring tables/records, it is meant to show how good a player is at scoring goals, not whether they are their clubs nominated penalty taker. Being good at scoring penalties is valuable, if you have a good penalty record it should rightly be applauded. But I don't think it should be lumped in with goalscoring records, because it relies on you being the penalty-taker for your team. You can be a good penalty taker, whilst not being a good goalscorer.
Scholes has received admiration from the likes of Zidane who claimed that Scholes was the best and toughest opponent he had faced.
FFS Lampard has just scored his 203rd goal, that isn't over-rated. Loads of people say Scholes was the best player they played against ever, particularly a lot of foreign lads. Why are you so determined to dislike players solely on the basis that they're English?
That's a myth. People always say he dislikes the English players and it's just not true. He just only remembers the good games foreigners have and forgets all the bad ones so our players seem over-rated in comparison.
