Got to say Villa have been a pleasure to watch, though. I can remember when we used to play with this attitude. Whatever happens tomorrow, I have hated this season.
If Chelsea win, this will be our insurance policy. Villa, should Wigan do the unthinkable and beat Arsenal, will need a draw at least to guarantee their safety. Mind you, for this to work we would need a point from one of our two games
And equaling Bobby Tambling's scoring record for Chelsea, from the midfield, what an achievement that is!
But if Chelsea win today, and we manage to win tomorrow, we will stay up irrespective of the result in the Villa-Wigan game.
no as if we win only 1-0 we will be on same goal difference but they stay above because they have scored more
Out of interest, does anyone know if Tambling took penalties for Chelsea? Apparently Lampard has put 50 or so of them away.
bbc newsfeed quote 'Paul Lambert is not happy with a point, he's out in his technical area waving his charges forwards.' Sigh.
This game has had more excitement than our last 19 matches put together. If Villa do lose, they have lost with passion and style, two words which do not exist in Hughton's dictionary. When we played at Villa, they were much worse than us. Now they are much better. How can anyone want Hughton to stay at the end of the season?
Not sure if a draw wouldn't have been better. It would have meant Arsenal wanting to put a hat-ful past Wigan which would have been nice. If we're still in trouble on the last day of the season though, Villa would still need something at Wigan.
