If the Ray Parlour precedent was followed, the court might award her half of everything he's got.

In that case, she would have 6 more Premiership winning medals than Steven Gerrard! ;)

  3. She shouldn't get half of everything. Bitch. That bloke has worked his arse off all his life for everything he has, but if they get divorced that bitch gets half of everthing?

I'm sorry but this system sucks.

She's a bitch and he's the one who cheated on her?

Christ, he went to court for an injunction so she wouldn't find out!

She is the mother of two of HIS children but he opted to shag some 15 minutes of fame z-list celeb at the expense of his family.

I hope she takes him to the cleaners.

In the words of Jimmy Carr "Not only can money buy you love, it can also buy you an injunction to stop it getting out"

  8. He made a mistake, but that doesn't mean she should get half of his money and everything he has.

If she cheats on him, he can divorce her and keep all he's worked for, if he cheats on her, she gets 50% of everything.

I agree husbands shouldn't be allowed to leave their wives potless with nothing to help them live, but 50% is ridiculous.

Even if he hadn't cheated on her and she field for divorce, she can still claim 50% of his estate, which is ****ing ridiculous.

You enter marriage as equals and by law are treated as equals so if the marriage breaks down you are still equal in the eyes of the courts; hence she is liable to be granted 50% of their JOINT estate.

My missus has forgone a career to look after our children while I work away from home over 60% of the time to earn the money. I couldn't raise a family without her and she'd struggle without me. If we broke up she deserves 50% of our collective wealth.

  12. Well i personally think Marriage is a contract that will soon die out.

I've got nothing against it, and if it makes two people happy then fine, but i would love a girl and hope that i didn't need to give her a ring that costs a fortune and pay thousands of pounds for a wedding to prove that to her.

    Your only 19.

Time can change opinion. I said I'd never get married when I was 19.

I asked my wife to marry me when I was 26.

You cannot make sweeping statements like that and expect to be taken seriously.

Mistake? getting on the wrong bus is a mistake. Putting salt in your coffee instead of sugar is a mistake. Arranging several secret meetings over a period of months with a wannabe celebrity, so that you can ride her like a stolen motorbike, ain't no mistake!!

They have been married for a long time and she has looked after him and their children. He knew the risks when he stuck his choad in that fame seeking bint's sausage monster. If you can't do the time............................

Away from footballers, but if a wife supports her husband financially in the early days, allowing him to build a successful and lucretive career, is she then not entitled to 50%, tash?

I think thats the only reasonable thin you've said in this thread Tash. Marriage has become less socially expected and it will probably continue to do so. You aren't less of a man for not marrying a woman/man you love and the law even recognises long term partnerships under the same status as marriage now because you have demonstrated a commitment. Like all the other guys on here have said, Giggs made a commitment not only by marrying his partner but also by having children with him. I'm sure she would rather have a happy family and had her children grow up under one roof than take all of that money but cheating is very difficult to forgive or accept. You can't just bottle it up because the fact that your husband is famous and talented has allowed youth live a life of luxury.

It obviously made him and his wife happy. He signed the contract so if he goes screwing some other woman he has to deal with what he's done. If you don't get married, good for you - this will never happen to you. But he did, so he has to deal with it.
