The Beeb are a ****ing disgrace.

The FA Cup is a sideshow even today on their site compared to a bloke who quit his job.

Why not just rename the ****ing website www.ManUnited.co.uk

I don't have the energy but I challenge someone to get a calculator and add up the number of stories on the Beeb about Fergie and United atm. He announced his retirement days ago, it's never ****ing ending. It's as if the Queen just died.

    agree to a degree.

think it is an insult to the traditions of the Cup final that we all used to love and enjoy, big build up, excitement, even from a neutral point of view.

i can accept that a person is retiring who has probably achieved more than most, if not all, will ever achieve in the game (still not a patch on SIR BOB) but there is a time and fecking place to mourn ie end of the season, show some fecking respect to City and Wigan who are in the cup final!

I've honestly lost count at the amount of articles posted, as said a before I agree to an extent and accept it. But it's been the main headline for days now, Spurs v Chelsea didn't make the top headline when they were playing <doh>

I even said to her indoors, you would have thought the guy had died the amount of coverage his retirement is getting.

Sadly this goes to demonstrate further everything that is wrong with the Premier League, the strong over powering influence of the media, particularly by Sky on the modern game. Brainwashing all the plastics.

Anyone born from the late 80's onwards has no idea of traditional football, unless they venture into a non league ground, many millions of plastics are unlikely to ever pay to do that.

There is no denying football was in decline in the late 70's but the government used that as an excuse to destroy the working class game for their own political motives. Whether that destruction commenced through the cost of football, its restrictions, no standing, the price of a pint which eventually saw the erosion of the traditional PH, cigarette restrictions etc.

All they have done is taken our game to the opposite extreme of a Billionaire's playground. Corruption will eventually follow in the game as is normally associated with that amount of £££'s. Asian market.

So we have buried the Wicked Witch of the West but her curse is still haunting us from beyond the grave. Will supporters ever stand up against this monopoly or do the plastics out number us now.

All this old boys retirement has hihglighted through the media is it really is time for change, not a new manager but that of the modern game.

Its not the BBC's fault that the FA Cup has been devalued so much. The BBC will report on what most people are interested in. More people are interested in the retirement of Sir Alex than the FA cup. Simple

To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if Fergie announced his retirement this week so that City's coverage in the final would be low. He probably decided long ago that he'd be of this summer, but rather than wait an extra two games, just announce it now and **** up City's moment. What other advantage was there to announcing his retirement now rather than in two weeks? Not like it makes a difference to Moyes, he's still got two games to play out with Everton anyway.

Cunning little ****, Fergie is. Brilliant, but a little ****.

About 14 articles on the BBC Football main page about Ferguson. At least it was a quick appointment so the BBC will have 24 hour coverage until he physically leaves but the transfer window shouldn't be contaminated too much. Odds on a helicopter shot when he leaves on his last day?

This.. is epitomised at a higher level by Qatar buying the world cup to be played in the backyards of the mega rich folk there as some personal showpiece of theirs.

On one is best win rate over 20+ games in PL history = Jose <laugh> Highest points also left out as it's not Fergie, and it's all just PL history not Top Flight history, no mention of Europe in the article either<laugh>

The TV license money pays for that absolute crap, www.fergie.co.uk/sports

The FA have made the Cup Final a sideshow by allowing it to be screened at 5.15

Plus it's Wigan ffs! It's likely to be one of the most 1 sided Cup finals in history, that many simply can't be arsed with.

The Fergie stuff is OTT but the fact that it's outshining the Cup Final is down to public interest not your bitter view of 'bias'.

The Guardian sport page earlier in the week was chock full of 2 types of articles: "Fergie this, Fergie that. Great/Amazing/etc." and all the other articles were: "liverpool's shame/let the city down/ Anfield failure". I had no idea the cup final was today (partly cos it's earlier in May than in recent seasons) until someone told me yesterday.

Got to admit it does seem strange the lack of coverage for the final, but I'm putting that down to the fact that's it's almost certainly going to be a bit of a non-contest.

To the people suggesting that Fergie is a calculated genius who has plotted to announce his retirement in time to steal City's thunder, I think you need to have a bit of a lie down. I would assume he's done it now so that he receives a proper (well deserved) send off in his last couple of games.

I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, so the idea that it's a deliberate stealing of the limelight doesn't do it for me, but it's not unreasonable to criticise the amount of coverage.
Of course Fergie retiring is big news, but once you've broken that news there's not too much more you can say about it. Of course there'll be an endless stream of hagiographies but little or no actual news. Unless you're a Utd supporter how enthralled can you be by reading the same stuff a dozen times with a slightly different spin?
