Depends what you prefer doing, looking to the future or getting in the history books. Personally I would prefer Premier League football, I think getting in the Premiership is actually harder than staying up myself so wouldn't want to do that for a while. Plus the money Premier League football brings is phenomenal, which could expand the club.

I think the trend is the longer you stay in the Premiership, the more debt you acrue. There aren't many who get relegated richer with a better bank balance than when they went up (although we maybe one of them).

More money the more you spend on wages etc
Bit like buying a bigger house, you just fill it with stuff you buy

Hi bors, FA Cup glory or PL lolly. Me, I opt for the PL. With the PL lolly you can build a better team and then hopefully win the FA Cup. Wining the FA Cup may look nice in the history books but it only adds once to the balance sheet. Finance dictates the outcome, you only have to look at the top four teams and how well they do in cupties due to financial success. That is why those teams in the relegation zone are fighting to preserve their current status. To those who say FA Cup, would they prefer us to be in League One with an FA Cup win to our credit or where we are now.

Like you point out, I think it depends how the finances are managed. QPR will be ****ed, but I think Reading will perhaps have a better balance sheet. Most importantly I think we our investing our money wisely, with McNally and Bowkett in charge I think that will remain the same.

I agree about higher wages, but if you find players who will be easy to sell should we go down than it's not a huge problem. By that I mean good young players, not QPR has beens.

Sad really that football is now mostly about money, for both clubs and fans. You would hope it would be more about winning trophies

An interesting debate, being young I think I perhaps underestimate the prestige of the FA Cup. I don't really see it as a competition many teams really take that seriously and to be honest I much prefer the earlier stages than the final rounds.

I don't know, but to me the club going forward carries more importance. I wouldn't say no to a Cup win, but would rather secure football in the top league. Especially when you consider how hard it is to get into this league nowadays.

If it was us in this situation i'd take the Cup win simply to notch one up finally.

Realistically whether we stay up this year or not, we WILL play in the Premier League again and we WILL play in the Championship again. We can influence the proportions, but we have a natural level of about 20th-25th in the football pyramid and will fluctuate around it. Avoiding relegation brings in money, which (as others have said) gets spent. It doesn't change the history of a club.

Winning the FA cup is a permanent mark on the history of a club. (That is a hard admission to make, as we can argue our natural level comfortably matches Ipswich's, but, but we don't have their permanent trophies.)

Oh ffs...look on the plus side, Man City clearly don't give a care in the world right now, perhaps we could sneak a draw?

Well done Wigan. Much the better team, even before the sending off. And to all the people who jumped on the McManaman is an animal bandwagon, shut up, the boy made a mistake but showed us what a talent he is. Lets hope Snodgrass and Pilkington take his attitude onto the pitch tomorrow. Put the lad in the England squad I say.
I don't wish any team ill will but I don't wan't to feel sad if my team were to go down so I hope that is the last game Wigan win this season.

Well done Wigan. We won't know until next week if they they'd swap this cup win for the defeat to Man City a few weeks ago. Apparently they outplayed them that night too.
