The reporter said that Lloris is frustrated and AVB replied"How do you know?" He repeated it a couple of times with a dead pan expression on his face. Our start is giving this man confidence. I hope he doesn't get mouthy, that's the best way to get beaten. Actually breaking our duck against Utd can be counted as AVB's first success of the season.

    Painful. Couldn't backpedal quickly enough.

Thats exactly what we need from a manager in that sort of situation IMO. Shut the press up by answering their questions in a way they can't reply to but can't complain about either and then further shut the doubters up by winning at OT for the first time.

On the Lloris situation I think he's handled the situation absolutely correctly, but that is a debate for another thread I guess.

Nah, it won't stop them. Another reporter went with a story about mutiny at Spurs with no quotes the very next day, Keys repeated it on TS and claimed that it was confirmed by Sherwood, which he then had to retract and apologise for spreading a BS story.

Point is, we'll have to win every competition we're in for the next 6 years if they're truly going to stop hating on AVB and Spurs. Even then I wouldn't count on it.

Lots of journos will hate Spurs because lots of journos support Arsenal West Ham and Chelsea

The press have had it in for us for decades before AVB, he's but a nice sideshow for all the spurs-hating hacks

Even worse, many of the so-called spurs fans in the media have never stood up for us, indeed some have been amongst our strongest critics

I stopped buying papers about twenty years ago because of the hate and vitriol we used to, and still do, suffer.

I'm just sooo happy we have the internet these days, thus making the press an irrelevance for me.

If we win something thee'll be some good reporting on us, because not all journos hate us,

but because the media is Londoncentric, a disproportionate number of key journos support our three fiercest rivals.

I asked this question near the start of the season - most people seemed to think that perhaps the top four would elude us this year but we would get 5th or 6th - which we at least have and possible better still. HOwever the Cups have been a disappointment

The season's been a success for me even assuming we don't get a CL spot. It's not so much that a probable fifth would be doing well, considering--though it is. It's that this season has been a hair-raising rollercoaster ride, and that the team has shown so much fight, especially against the top sides.

I want success. All fans want success. But in my case, if it was success I really wanted, not too long ago I could have chosen to back Man U.

I wanted, well, a hair-raising rollercoaster ride, a team with style, lots of twists and turns, and this year we got exactly that. I would seriously love us to win our last two games though, irrespective of its impact on fourth.

  8. I know one thing for certain, I am approaching the end of this season a lot more positively than the last after the wasteland of results saw us implode so dramatically. And that is irrespective of whether we get positive results in the last 2 games and do/do not qualify for the CL.

I am not 100% on board with AVB's tactics by any means, but I am confident he will be here next term with all the current players - including GB - who we want to retain and time to seek those additional elusive signings (Levy-willing!!)

Yes - I am more optimistic too - I feel the success this year has been more measured and is something that can be built on. I still wish we would not give away stupid points - but what supporter anywhere does not?

I even feel that SAF leaving opens next year massively. Man U will then be in transition and we are not far from the next three.

4th would be a great success with a mediocre team.
Anything else is a failure, a step backwards.
I always thought 6th was the best we could get with this team.

I do remember him having a pathological hatred of Friedel but I liked him, was a bit abusive at times though.

Only because there's no chance of Alnwick getting a game for us these days...

I'm a firm believer in tall-ish, well built agile keepers.

Alnwick looked like a kid in an adults gk kit. How did he get to play in our first team?!
Made Gomes look like a safe pair of hands
