http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfers-andy-carroll-sale-1879162 David moyes is looking for a lump of a man to knock it long at. he's got the donkey's in vidic and jones to do the lumping and the perfect excuse to bypass midfield in carrick so it makes perfect sense. 40million please mr Moyes...
I always said that if Fergie had bought Carroll, he'd make great use out of him and play to his strengths. Andy's got alot of good attributes that it's a shame we ****ed things up. I think, although people laugh, he'd end up being a quality player at United, even if Moyes is there now and not Fergie - he'll still be having an imput from his directer perch They play with wide players, like to cross the ball in and mix up the football style from short ball to long ball. Not a first 11 regular starter, but a rotated forward. I kinda hope he stays at Wham, don't want to see United buy something we can't deal with.
nope andy misses too many headers, for a big man who can climb and is strong he also just missed the target. if utd want him for moyes its 40mil... you heard it hear first. oh and in case you lot missed it we saw several average prem defenders mark carroll easily against us.. the worst was wes brown and sunderland! poor old andy is a 15mil player we all know it, if he was 15mil and rodgers hadn't his head up his ass we'd be getting use out of a decent player...
Carroll wasnt fit for much his time with us. He also was more successful with crosses from certain players. Carroll's heading looked a whole lot better when the crosses came from Gerrard and Bellamy than it did when Downing and Henderson provided the crosses. He didnt work well with Suarez though. I sense Suarez lacked some trust in him.
January-May last season Carroll looked good, he was starting to find some sort of form with us, he was holding the ball up better, making better runs and ultimately starting to score goals. Appearances can be deceiving, Carroll may be big and strong but he is a very unique player, he'll win the ball in the air all day long but it's not often you see a big man be an instinctive finisher, granted we didn't see it a lot, but I recall many of us saying he's a better finisher when he doesn't have time to think about it. Strikers are strange, sometimes certain goals or games spark their career, Carroll was certainly moving a long but BR obviously didn't rate him right before he joined us. I'd much rather have Carroll coming on for the last 20 minutes when we need a goal than Borini, perhaps I have over-hyped him a little here and I'm by no means stating that he looked like a world beater, but I definitely think he could of been useful this season and maybe Rodger regrets not giving the lad a chance.
he looked a trier alright. i think the cups inspired him. if he'd started the fa cup final..... carroll didn't even get 5mins in fornt of rodgers he was decided upon before he arrived yet henderson and downing proved themsevles so thats inconsistent thinking OR someone on high was telling rodgers the big buys had to go which was just plain idiotic.
Being able to win the ball in the air and hold up the ball isn't just for 6ft+ brutes like Carroll. Give me a player who can time his jump, run into the right positions, time those runs to ensure he connects with the ball properly. Torres is the perfect example - not the strongest physically but he could win the ball in the air and he scored some great headers. Not only that, he could offer more as a player. I'm not saying that we need a Fernando Torres - I'm just stressing the point that there are players out there who are able to win the ball in the air and hold up play, but also have many other attributes to offer. In an ideal world, I would love to keep Carroll as a Plan B but we can't afford to have a striker who is on around £90k a week on the bench. He is an expendable asset who will earn us around £15m which can then go into improving our Plan A all over the pitch.
I just can't believe Anzhi offered 45£m for him the summer after we bought him, should have taken it...
Rodgers was a donkey for not giving Carroll a go he was looking good the end of last season and at that amount of cash should have been given a fair crack If only Just for a good plan B
Could have used him against you lot that is for sure. He was a monster in the league games and FA cup game. Still **** though.
Well either rodgers was told to get shut (why a loan then??) or he decided without even talking to carroll that he was to go. In either case LFC took 2 years to shift the guy and fialed badly both times so his price has been ruined by this season totally. If we get 15mil i'll be amazed frankly.... but i could see him hanging round till deadline day given suarez.
We could have afforded to sit him on the bench for 10 years if we hadn't wasted £25 mill on Borini and Allen. We could have just kept Mandy and Spearing and who would have been more use this season? Who will be the better bet next season? I'd much rather we offloaded Joe Borini, improved plan A AND had a plan B too.
Poor andy, he joined a team that couldn't find the side of a barn with a cross let alone a tall forward, any team that can pick out a player with a cross would have made better use of him
Again with singling out Stewie. What about Stevie Johnson Enrique and all the others who couldn't find the smokestack of a man waiting a cross?
