Apology accepted, ST <ok>

Yeah, i agree with what you say and i did mean i loved him in a buffoonish manner, rather than a genuine appreciation for his work <laugh>. There's always an underlying venom to his writing, and as you say he often names people and addresses. However, i do think that the majority that read his bollocks do so out of humour, yet i suppose that doesn't hide the fact there'll always be rockets about who will lap it up.

Give it a few more months though and he won't have a club to write about <laugh>

If you listen to the Phone ins there a fair few Gers fans who make it clear they do partly beleive his garbage, i've heard plenty of them talking about Rod Petrie, Stewart Milne and Thomson being underlings to Lawell.

THE Daily Record should be ashamed of itself. It has sold its journalistic integrity for whatever the price of the mess of potage (Whit?) is that they are getting from Celtic.

And that is bad enough for any newspaper.

But what is worse, what is much worse, (Literal stutters) is that the Daily Record is now joining a totally irresponsible and dangerously reckless (Dangerously Reckless <laugh>) campaign to bring back drunken hooliganism to Scotland’s football grounds.

A dangerous and reckless (Yes you already said that) campaign which is being led by the man who runs the Record's business partners, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell.

There are more than a few who now believe Lawwell now has a big say in running the Record too. (and there are More than a few who believe in Santa)

Lawwell, it certainly seems, only has to crack the whip and the Record, led no doubt by editor Alan Rennie and his highly influential head of news, rabid Celtic fan Kevin Mansi, are prepared to leap through hoops and perform somersaults like some sort of circus acts. (What a writer this guy is, he should write a book)

No sooner had Peter Lawwell decided that he wants the Scottish Government to allow booze to be sold inside football grounds, than the Daily Record added its voice to this disgracefully irresponsible campaign. (Disgracefully irresponsible, probably sound highly intelligent to the dullards who believe this pish)

And to give it the official seal of approval, the Record View column, the paper’s editorial, known in the old inky trade as The Leader, came out in favour of flooding Scotland’s football grounds with booze. (I’ll bet they did no such thing)

All so that Celtic can earn a few more quid to make up for the fact they are having to reduce the cost of their season tickets by £100 a pop in order to entice their supporters, fed up with the one horse race the SPL is in the absence of Rangers, to buy them and then actually turn up to watch the poor fare which is on offer. (Hmm, “Having to reduce”? You just made that up)

Maybe Lawwell thinks those fans will get enough down their necks to ensure they are wearing beer goggles and be fooled into thinking they are watching the beautiful game by the time what passes for action at Parkhead kicks off. (Oh no, Leggo is criticising the standard of football at Celtic, does anyone smell the irony?)

And of course, if the Lawwell-led campaign, backed by Celtic’s business partners the Record, is successful, then the Celtic chief executive will have a further hold on all the other SPL outfits by being able to boast to their chairmen and chief executives of how he fought the good fight to allow them to become publican profiteers by selling booze to fire up fanatical football fans inside their grounds. (If OctoPete is already all powerful why exactly would he need “A further hold” on anyone?)

Perhaps one of Scotland’s other newspapers will now go to Peter Lawwell and ask him if he has had a re-think after the latest outbreak of hooligan behaviour by his club’s fans when they ripped out seats from Firhill and went on an orgy of destruction during the Glasgow Cup Final this week? (Yes David, of course it was all the Celtic fans’ fault, those poor innocents at the Gers end did’nt do nuffink Guv, honest)

Just imagine how those thugs would have reacted had they been inside Firhill, able to buy booze there, for two hours before the kick off. Somebody might have been killed. (Oh dear)

Just as somebody might have been killed at Dens Park on Boxing Day when Celtic fans staged a full scale riot there, after spending all day on the batter. (A full scale riot <laugh>)

But Peter Lawwell doesn’t seem to care about that. Peter Lawwell only seems to care about making money for Celtic. Whatever the human cost. (You could say Peter Lawell would be willing to see people die just to make a profit for Celtic?)

However, no responsible newspaper should support such a harebrained scheme. No responsible newspaper should back any purely money making idea when that idea could lead to blood being spilled. (And no responsible paper should have ever hired a bigoted, pish stained **** like you, but there you go, newspapers in general are not responsible)

Which leads many to what they believe is the obvious conclusion that the Daily Record, once such a mighty paper, once such a brave, honest, campaigning and excellent newspaper, is no longer even a responsible newspaper, but merely Peter Lawwell’s puppet. (“Many” again? These “many” certainly seem to talk to Leggo every day)

Those of us old enough to remember what it used to be like, to have seen an era of booze fuelled aggro reach its crescendo at the end of the 1980 Scottish Cup Final when enraged Celtic supporters spilled onto the Hampden pitch and charged towards the other end where Rangers fans mustered to meet them in a pitched battle, only broken by a charge of mounted police with batons swinging, do not want a return to those bad old days. (Here we go, history being rewritten, it was all the fault of Celtic fans <doh>)

And probably even worse. For back then drink was not even sold inside football grounds, as Peter Lawwell, with the Daily Record’s irresponsible backing, now wants it to be. Back then the thugs took their carry outs into matches and by the time the second half was under way they were reeling and fighting drunk.

That was when the Criminal Justice Act Scotland was passed to make it an offence to take drink into a football ground and also an offence to be found to be intoxicated inside a football ground. It was a necessary piece of legislation and Scottish football cleaned up its act.

Now Peter Lawwell and the Record want supporters to be allowed to buy booze inside the ground. How long before the Celtic thugs who staged a riot at Dens Park and who went on an orgy or destruction at Firhill, start smuggling in half bottles and bottles of Buckie which they start pouring into whatever booze they buy in the ground?

How long before there is a repeat of the Celtic pitch invasion at the end of the 1980 Scottish Cup Final?

How long before someone is killed by a rampaging bigot fired by Buckie?

If that happens, never mind what Peter Lawwell would say, never mind who he would blame. What would Celtic’s business partners at the Daily Record write then?

    (Jesus H Christ <doh>)

I read it earlier. The scary thing is he's not the only paranoid loony in Scottish football:

Must be why Neil Lennon gets such an easy time of it eh? <doh>

It's unbelievable. You expect this sort of ****e from the barmier OF fans like super and Leggo but a fellow manager? Can you imagine if Neil Lennon said something like that about another SPL club?

Anyway, it's good to see that the Daily Record is now in our back pocket after years of succulent lamb and churnalism <whistle>

    Human beings scare me.

Please tell me that Leggo is a lone scattergun revisionist and not actually representative of the dangers of confirmation bias.

" ... Right, when on Friday May 3rd I exclusively revealed that season ticket prices at Ibrox for next season would be frozen at their present prices, a fact which Rangers officially announced yesterday, eleven days after regular readers of LeggoLand got the good news."

Is there a typo in that sentence - should it not read "... days after the eleven regular readers of Leggoland got the good news." ? <whistle>
