Eventually Britain, will be in the Euro anyway, so, I don't really know why it is an issue for an Independent Scotland, which won't even happen anyway. It would be suicide for Britain not to join the Euro eventually, unfortunately.
True but Shetland does not want anything to do with Britain and/or Scotland. They consider themselves to be Nordic. So it could all be a bit confusing if Shetland gets it independance what with the close proximity of some of the oil fields and Sullem Voe terminal itself. Just saying, like.
The rules are different for islands like shetland i cant remember exactly what it is but they get less rights than everyone else and the oil fields are outwith their area of claim. If Shetland gains independence the oil is in international waters. Not sure how the rights are agreed then though. As far as i understand anyway the oil is all owned by private companies and most of the tax is extracted from their profits so all this **** is pretty irrelevant.
To be honest I have no idea but with independance becoming the norm worldwide it would cloud the issue. But I'm no expert. On anything really to be fair.
That's what I tend to do, can never be bothered delving into something too deep, unlike ST with his young boys
