Jordan: I want even more next season

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Super G Ted'inho, May 9, 2013.

  1. Jordan Henderson admits he's satisfied with his goal tally so far this term – but he's targeting an even better return next season.

The midfielder has fired six goals in 2012-13 and admits he's been putting in extra work on the Melwood training pitches to make him a more potent threat to opposing defences.

However, Henderson is hopeful of building on that number next season and helping Liverpool to continue their progress under Brendan Rodgers.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: "It's always important for midfielders to get goals. Hopefully I can keep working on that and get a few more next season.

"Scoring goals has been brilliant for me on a personal level, but I think the team has definitely progressed throughout the season and we can only get stronger and better and we look forward to next season."

He added: "We've progressed over the season - we've played some really good football and won some really good games.

"We're definitely progressing all the time and we'll look to continue to do so in the last two games and next season."

His goal at Norwich, in January, was amazing! Think he's definitely improved in that department.

One of this seasons success stories. Hopefully more to come from him. Next season could well define how far the lad can really go. Well done to him for this season and well done Rodgers/LFC for making a complete **** up of offloading him last summer <ok>

considering the few games he got while wathcing a crocked joe allen plod round.... i think his goal return and more importantly assists are impressive.

If we keeps it up he could knock in 20.. but he won't rodgers will drop him for allen in august.

Could end up being our Lampard tbh. Not as gifted as some, but really puts the effort in to improve and makes those type of runs into the box to get on the end of a loose ball or cross. Really like having Hendo in our midfield, balances out Gerrard and Lucas well.

i think ok he could improve but lets be honest and frank here. henderson, lucas, gerrard trio is not going to scare too many sides at the top is it? We need to figure this out this summer. Henderson would be one i'd have, lucas has things to prove now and gerrard needs to be minded and given the time between performances to extend his carrer ala giggs. Giggs doesn't play every 90 so for me we need more quality here.

sorry to dampen it. i like henderson's attitdue.

I share your concerns. I'm not happy with the central midfield at all and haven't been since Alonso left.

However, without Henderson, our midfield is even worse. He adds balance, energy and a few goals and assists. Really happy for the lad and I hope he can push on further.

Yeah Gerrard isn't getting any younger and lets face it - we're all a bit timid in bringing it up but Lucas hasn't been good enough since his return. Rightly he has been given time to get back to sharpness etc but there is no excuse come the start of the season.

Midfield needs bolstering, no doubt about that.

Whilst I don't think Lucas has fully regained his fitness and form, I also believe that the tactics don't help.

There is far too much space in our midfield and sides can counter us with so much ease.

We can bring in more/better defenders but I fear the underlying problems will remain.

Hendo's looking good, but where will he fit next year in our midfield of Gerrard, Lucas, Cou &....Alonso <whistle>, but how strong would that midfield be?? Alonso, COME HOME!

He is only good enough to be a squad player. He is inferior to Allen, Lucas, Coutinho and Suso and is just about on par with Gerrard. If it was not for his energy and pressing he would offer absolutely nothing to the team. Average player and if we want to break into top-table inferiority then he needs to be relegated to the bench.

Isn't the first time you mentioned him. <whistle>

If you can explain to me why Allen is better than Henderson, I will leave you to it.

Better passer, more game intelligence, more composure, better vision, ability to turn on the ball, ability to dribble with the ball, ability to pass and then proceed to move into space (something which Henderson fails to do repeatedly), ability to win the ball back through pressuring the opponent more effectively or intercepting, ability to shield the ball from a pressuring opponent and then proceed to turn into the open space. I could probably go on, but neither you or Jordan Henderson are worth any more of my valuable time.

You lost me at shield the ball. Midfielders run right through Allen. Anyway, pretty clear you are a wum as the post above said, you just described henderson.

Please provide evidence before making baseless statements. Thanks. I am not a WUM, my opinions on football stem from years of education and experience which have made me the exceptional poster I am today.
