Didn't see it so can't comment but it didn't lead directly to a goal as was the case with Walker/Beausejour. The point was Chirpy claimed that a legitimate goal scored against Man Utd was the only reason we were 3 points ahead. We could go back through all previous 35 games for both sides and find discrepancies or cases where we've both been denied and gifted points. I can think of 10 points we've lost thanks to major ref calls off the top of my head. The squad has been stripped by the mongs on the board, not really a lot Di Matteo/Benitez can do with only 3 fit midfielders all season and 2 strikers. Under the circumstances the players have done well.
Yeah I agree with the Vertonghen foul, never was in my book but he got the booking for kicking the ball away and descent I think. I thought there was a couple of free kicks we should have had too but in a partisan game you will naturally find the same for both sides. I didn't think it influenced the outcome of the game, as has been the case in so many other high profile games this season. Entitled to your opinion, but I've seen you complain about refs a number of times. There is no ref conspiracy against Spurs. Some teams get decisions more than others but I'd rather be a Spurs than a Wigan - who get very little. Spurs deserved something out the game irrespective of the offside goal. The reason we get more pens is because our playing style is different. We play at a faster tempo and between the lines. Hazard, Oscar and Mata are all players with quick feet and relative pace (bar the latter). Your playing style is very much different and you are a more physical side that rely on distance shooting as opposed to in the box play. There are definite penalties you should have had, off the top of my head Sunderland (away) and Southampton (home). Referees aren't just going to give Spurs penalties because Chelsea have had some. If they need to, they will/should give one. There are many more stonewall penalties we should have had. QPR (away), Sunderland (away), Swansea (away), Stoke (Home), Newcastle (away). That's just off the top of my head but there are many more. The league table is a fair reflection of where all 3 sides are at, IMO
No, it lead to Wigan having 11 men on the field, instead of 10. http://news.go.vn/bong-da/tin-12884...o-mat-holtby-nhung-khong-bi-duoi-nhu-nani.htm With regards to dodgy decisions, I'm sure that every team could pick out a number going against them, but the fact that we haven't had a penalty in the league this season or for the whole of 2012 is pretty glaring. 3 fit midfielders? What are you counting as a midfielder for this strange stat?
He got the ball No seriously though, having seen that it's an absolute red card but we don't for sure what outcome it would have had on the result. We know for sure that if the correct decision had been made Spurs wouldn't have scored from it (possibly not at all given the time left). I must confess to having not seen much of Spurs this season but the examples that spring to mind have been fouls on Bale that haven't been given, but I'm sure the media witchhunt didn't help. We had a similar witchhunt with Oscar/Ivanovic where MOTD decided they would villify them and ask Pulis about his opinion, didn't get a penalty in a while. I suspect it's been the same with Bale.
Or we could have gone on to win comfortably. The point is that we didn't get an utterly astoundingly blatant decision, which was compounded by the fact that he was already on a yellow. Our old mate Clattenburg made a couple of similarly strange calls in our game against Southampton, calling a phantom foul against Defoe when he had an open goal and missing an obvious penalty. It's not that we're having narrow decisions go against us now and then, but really obvious ones on a regular basis. I watch Spurs more than any other team, which is pretty obvious, but I don't have a way to eliminate confirmation bias from my conclusions.
Bale plays at a very fast pace and gets fouled regularly yet refs penalise him (possibly buying into the anti Spurs media nonsense) so that is not a reason
I always complain about the ref! I couldn't give a rats arse about what Wigan get or don't get, I pay attention to my side and the treatment that sides around us get. I never claimed there's a conspiracy against Spurs, refs tend to side with what are perceived as the bigger clubs and also the home side, you won't catch me accepting that any time soon though.
Again, I can't argue with you there as you watch Spurs more than I do, but unless you're a United fan, we can all say the same.
I freely admit that most of Chelsea's large number of penalties were due to their style and ability. But they didn't deserve no 11-1 ratio. They were lucky with the calls or the refs favored them, simple as that. Similarly, Spurs were not among the top 3 or 5 for creating chances in the box. But 0--really, 0? We've had clearcut penalties not given in 2 of the past 4 weeks. So, again, either we're unlucky with the refs, or the refs favor other teams. I haven't watched Chelsea all year, but I can tell you a reasonable number for Spurs would have been about 5 awarded, while the 3 given is reasonable. Maybe 4. I'll hazard a guess what Chelsea actually deserved was something like 7-2, 8-3. The real problem, as I've said before, isn't favoritism, or intimidation. It's not following the rulebook. If refs started calling every pen the rules specified, teams would adjust, and we wouldn't have what we have now, which is officials making it up as they go along, according to how much pressure they feel or how desperately they want to please a crowd or a manager.
Actually the point I was making was that to say someone "deserves" to win when they don't is an utter waste of time. You win when you deserve to win, by outscoring the other side. I also pointed to the abject game your mob and Utd put on as the difference between the two sides this season. 3 points. You deserved to win, but don't tell us that we won games we didn't deserve to. I wish someone would strip our squad and buy Hazard, Moses, Ba and Cesar. That's the sort of clearout I like the sound of.
You keep putting this...why? You have, Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Lampard, Romeu, Ramires, Mikel, Marin. You must have felt you have adequate players there, affording yourselves to send Benayoun on loan!
Poor Chelsky and their feeble squad. Complain about the huge fixture list this season by all means, but spare us the 'threadbare' squad rubbish.
Even Chelsea have forgotten Malouda. Easiest couple of million ever earned (including Lottery winners)
I don't know, Darren Bent seems to be an easy few million for his former clubs - Ipswich got £3.3m when we signed him, and we got £2.4m when he joined Villa.
I'm hoping the team will see off Petrov in style, it's a long shot but tenuous hope is pretty much all we have at the moment.
Last summer, I'm sure sky had some graphic on screen that showed chelsea being able to make 3 11-a-side teams out of just their midfielders. Yes, 33 of them. I Think it was first team, reserve team and development squad. But still, 33 midfielders!
Maybe when District said "squad stripped by the mongs on the board" he meant clothing? They're a little weird over there after all
Mata, Oscar, Marin and Hazard are all forwards our squad is one of the smallest in the PL, it's a fact. I'm not asking for sympathy. It's the fault of the board admittedly but when I hear people saying the players underachieved given the likes of Oscar have played 90 games for club and country, Hazard 72 games and Mata 70 I can't help but be bemused considering they are up against players that have played half that amount hence a lot fresher
