  1. I don't think he should be banned, instead he should be suspended while he goes to rehab, and after that, if he does it again it should be a season ban without wages.

I like the Toure brothers and I think that its too long. He said he took his wife's slimming pills. Stupid FA concentrating on unimportant things.

They banned Rio for 9 months for just missing a test so they need to show some consistancy

How can they be consistent with two different situations? If you read the FA's (or Premier League, whoever it is) statement they give reasons for the length and explain the situation, if anything the ban is too long for something which as some have said was a complete accident and not performance enhancing in any way (barring perhaps a smaller arse, which as Olly Bernard proved, a big arse is no barrier to being a quality footballer). Rio dodged a drug test, which for me is a far greater offense than attending and testing positive for something so minor.

If the facts are correct then 6 months is ok in my view - it was for all intents and purposes an accidental breach of rules which wouldn't have improved performance so a mild punishment sounds fair.

But I do question why the term is allowed to continue running during the close season, the ban should only run down during the competitive season. Where is the punishment in the period of the ban which occurs when there are no games being played? That is ridiculous.

However, like Joker I think there might be more than meets the eye with this case. Wife's diet pill ... bullcrap!

You are contradicting yourself. He may not be improving his performance but he is using an illegal substance to stave off something that may impair his performance (weight gain). using these substances to prevent loss of performance as opposed to the gaining of performance is the same in myy opinion

Good point actually! I hadn't looked at it that way. You are right he was more guilty than I stated in my previous post and deserved a bigger sentence!
