I have to laugh at the media going mental over Fergie the Great. Yes, so he had a good run domestically, but only because Scum were allowed to borrow and borrow and borrow to develop their stadium and continually buy expensive players. So Fergie has left Scum in great shape? Well, they still carry a massive debt, and if they were a Jessops they would have been extinct by now, but there seems to a law for them and a law for the rest. So for me Fergie hasn't quite left the club better off, would have been better if they were debt free. Now the success bit. After 26 seasons at the greatest club ever (supposedly), how many times have Scum won the European Cup? Exactly!! Imagine Mourinho spending 26 years at Madrid, they'd certainly win a lot more! Fergie has been a failure at European level in terms of winning the big prize when you consider the resources he's had available. My guess is that if it was still the original straight knock out format with only the Champions of each country competing, Scum would not have lifted the trophy under Fergie. For that matter, Chelsea and Liverpool would not have tasted glory either, Liverpool as non champions!! Fergie has made mistakes that are simply ignored by the media, all too scared to front up to the bully Fergie. I give you just two classics, you add on any others you want - Piquet, considered weak and incapable of a footballing career is released on a free, goes to Barcelona, wins everything going with them, and adds a Euro Champs and World Cup to his collection. Fcuk me!! Then there's the little Scummer who has just taken Posh back to Lge One....
He's never beat Huddersfield Town so therefore he is **** even Warnock managed that! and Warnock has 7 promotions
Man Utd only became debt ridden when the Glaziers took over, they pulled a bigger stroke financially then Ken Bates could only have dreamed of, the reason they haven't gone down the pan like you did is because they keep winning things and keep up with the payments on the debt the Glaziers put them in. As for Fergie's mistakes over 26 years they were a minor blip compared to the success he achieved and never cost him his job.
Wrong Ringo, Scum were already deep in debt which is why the Exec were so keen to sell. Who in their right mind would have sold them if the club was profitable? You are right about servicing the debt, and that is all they're managing. They should be banned from paying any transfer fees and have their wage structure capped until they have PAID OFF their debts, not keep spending. Glaziers may have added to the debt, but the club was already in the red when it was sold. Scum fans suddenly found out all was not rosy, and at some point they will have to pay the piper. Oh, and reason they don't go down the pan is because no bank is brave enough to kill off their brand - the media would crucify the CEO who dared call in Scum's debts. Truth is, without Sky money Scum would be finished.
Billy you are on the wrong board we dont care about the scum or whichever cnut is managing them... We are Leeds United and we don't give a **** Hopefully Elland will be along soon to close and delete the thread.
Alex Ferguson has been a success, throughout his whole career in management, not just at Manure either. Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin boys. This is one of those times. Trying to demean the great mans achievements is just futile.
I can't saying agree with the original post as much as I hate fergie. He's done what no other manager has ever done. To say he's a flop with an average close to 1.5 trophies a season is laughable really. Don't forget how he's managed to rebuild teams time and time again. Love him or hate but certainly pay the dues of his deserved respect.
Fergie to get minute's applause at last game ... to take place in 98th minute ... and will last for six minutes
Oh, never said he's a flop, just not as successful as he should have been. I dislike Manchester United as a club intensely, and my dislike was not manifested as a UK raised Leeds United supporter. In fact, growing up in Cape Town I had no idea about the Roses rivalry, and the intenseness of the Leeds/Scum rivalry in particular. Even Gary Neville has acknowledged that the team they wanted to beat most was Leeds, and the ground they found the hardest to play at Elland Road. I have my own reasons for wanting them to disappear into nothing. I refuse to accept the media hype about Fergie because they conveniently forget his European Cup record, yet if ever a story comes up that allows them to diss the Don then they take it. Screw them all.
Good post Billy...He may be considered the greatest manager (certainly by the media) but I would add he's the luckiest manager as well. If he, his team could lose or win gracefully I maybe would have had a small bit of respect for them. But when they lost he'd blame the ref, the linesman, the pitch, the colour of the jerseys, not enough time played, too much time played, late kickoffs, have I missed anything out?
