Without seeing who Moyes brings in and assuming Chelsea get Mourinho then I feel Chelsea will win the League next season as we will be in a period of transition. I base this on the fact united fans and others have been saying for some time that Fergie is the difference. I praised our team many times but it was always ' Fergie is the difference ' I dont see Moyes being the difference just yet.
I expect Trophies but im also realistic that he needs to be given time, knowing the structure of the club, fergie upstairs he will be given every chance to guide us to even more success.
Did I? I said if he doesnt deliver we will be ****ed. All it takes is 2 or 3 bad seasons, have a look around the world of football. 2 or 3 poor seasons and players start leaving, those who are brought in are half the players we have. Suddenly winning a game against a rival becomes the highlight of the season and so on. A new manager every 2 or 3 years meaning stability no longer exists. As of yet Moyes has proven that he was a good Everton manager, nothing more. Everton not being Manchester United means he comes into a job far above anything hes ever done with an expectation to succeed. Anyone who thinks he will get 6 years regardless of how he does is on crack. He will get 2 maybe 3 years and he will be expected to keep us competitive domestically. Anything less and he will be gone. Then what? If Moyes is the best man for t he job then who the **** else do we get after Moyes?
Matt Busby also went upstairs after retiring as United manager. It rarely works out. Infact for the sake of United and Moyes I hope Fergies involvement is limited to a glass of wine and a chat with Moyes after each game and not much more. If Moyes is to succeed then he needs to be the manager, players going above him to Fergie as he is seen as the boss undermines Moyes and his managerial ability.
Not sure he needs to be the difference as such just keep us ticking over, I think the bigger thing will be just who he signs and style of play.
Im not too bothered that Moysey has gone.You have got a great manager and i wish him all the best.But i think i speak for every Evertonian in saying that if Leighton Baines and Fellani follow him down the East lancs it will have a catastrophic knock on effect for us.
That's a very good point. Ferguson will have to be 'invisible' for it to work out. He can't have a presence at the training ground etc & any advice he gives to Moyes will have to be away from the club & on Moyes terms & not his........
That's all it needs to be, as for Busby it's a different era and not sure Fergie is going to need to get involved to much, don't forget Wilf McGuiness struggled so Busby had to step in because he was out of his depth,then A couple year later Tommy D took us down after saving us the year before, Busby wasn't really to blame, its the manager to adapt to following in the footsteps of a great. Moyes would be daft not to seek advice from SAF but if he didn't think he could handle it I don't think he would of took the job.

Thing is I don't think some want it that way. They want Moyes to go up to Fergie like he's his dad before every game an ask who to play, what tactics and when to bring subs on. the media are even suggesting that Moyes is the best choice because he will be able to work under Fergie...... madness.
The test will come when (inevitably) he has a sticky patch, there'll be calls for Ferguson to get back involved etc, there might even be pressure from board level for Moyes to get some assistance from Ferguson & that'll be when there could be a potential for him to be undermined or for conflict to arise.
I don't think anyone is suggesting at all that Ferguson turn up for training but having him on hand for advice about the club, expectations etc. is no bad thing during transition. Smooth hand over, no problem.
If Fergie's involvement involves him being an ambassador for the club and being available to advise Moyes, when Moyes asks for advice, then I think we'll be ok. However Moyes needs to be in complete control of the squad, it may be troublesome if some of the players try to go straight to SAF instead of Moyes.
Didn't read through this thread, did HIAG come back and eat his bollox? He and one other said with a lot of certainty Jose was taking the job, not based on any actual information but just distorted misguided gut feelings. Moyes very good manager no doubts but a massive amount to prove he has what it takes to manage a top club with massive pressure.
Ahhh there it is, the HIAG crystal ball fails for the 100th time this season, it is so funny he talks as if he's making some educated guess when really he has a Yahtzee game for a brain
