truth hurts? i think you all need have a long hard look at yourselfs u bunch of panzys!!! say what you want about me but im speaking the truth that is how 90% of players and football fans alike look at hull city, theres only 1 way to stop that by proving them wrong!!! dont get me wrong i am proud of how far we have come as im sure every hull city fan is. but does it end there? do we have to settle for oh we made it to the pl what an achivement. no!! as with every other club, every other player and every other fan we should be looking to always progress. you all have defeatist attitudes (and the city in general) and unless that changes we will forever be a small club punching above our weight and ****hole of a city. there is no harm in looking to improve its a part of life, be proud of where we come from yes and its a fantastic achivement. but it should not end at that!! and no i wont be disapointed if we do go down, as long as we put up a bloody good fight
**** me.... where did i say this please tell me? my point is that you round up 90% of the players in the world offer them the same contract as any of the teams above and they go to the teams above!!!
Firstly, no thank you. Secondly, I haven't quoted you as to saying we aren't ambitious. The way you discount our team but credit teams who will be in the same relegation fight as us bemuses me. Players will go where the most money is, if that is us, we will sign them. The fact that, in your post above, you have accused Hull City fans of being defeatist, yet you are the only one settling for a relegation fight? Go figure.
TRUMPET, ya umpty, which is it norwich or norwhich. So excited , his fingers sweeping the k/b. wipe the saliva away.
Steve Bruce and Nick Thompson have said that about 7 new players will arrive this summer. Imo, goal scorers have to be the main priority at first.
Steve Bruce will be factor in a player's decision. Maybe even more so then which city they may live in. Every City in the UK has it's ****ty areas.
I very rarely post on this board but some comments in this thread have inspired me. 1) Stop saying Swanseas, Stokes, Newcastles etc. Just say Swansea, Stoke and Newcastle. They aren't plural. 2) Celtic are a much bigger club than us and anyone saying otherwise is deluded. We will be expected to go down by pretty much everyone and are seen to have fluked going up by many (I along with most City fans of course disagree). But Celtic offer Champions League football, much higher wages and huge support. We don't offer those things. 3) Teams like Swansea and Norwich will of course attract better players than us. Swansea are in Europe next season FFS and Norwich have just signed Ricky van Wolfswinkel, a player chased by some top teams around Europe. They have more draw than us. 4) People seem to be expecting us to sign the likes of (names I've seen mentioned): Defoe, Crouch, Bent. These are all way out of our price range. We need to be, and will be, very shrewd this window. Not overspend, but keep within our wage budget and not spunk loads on transfer fees. We'll no doubt get some loans in, a few foreign players that Bruce likes the look of and probably some players from either relegated teams or Championship teams, such a Curtis Davies or maybe Charlie Austin at a push. Some of you lot seem to get so defensive when anyone suggests we aren't a huge club with a huge draw to players. This simply isn't the case, we'll have to be in the Prem for a few years before that happens. Rant over.
No one is arguing that other clubs are "bigger". The fact is, the "bigger" teams are in the same situation as us. Norwich Stoke Newcastle, all of which may still go down this year might I add, will be in the same relegation battle. Champions league football isn't the be all, premier league football is much more appealing to some players. You say Norwich has signed Ricky van Wolfswinkel and that Europe's top clubs wanted him, if that was the case they would have had him. He WAS very highly thought of, but he just hasn't lived up to the billing as of yet.
Scunthorpe should do well in the basement league while City may well struggle in the Prem. Does that make Scunny a superior club to City? The SPL is a Mickey Mouse League were the Old Firm have gathered Mickey Mouse honours in their long Mickey Mouse historys and qualification from the Mickey Mouse league into the Champs League is just a joke.
Trumpets got a point. We aren't a draw for the better players until we establish oursleves. City are in the premier league, and are there on merit, but we're a championship sized club (with average facilites away from the KC, ie training ground) and that puts off players unless we pay over the odds.
They've both won major honours in Europe. City will never do that. Rangers 52 league wins & a UEFA cup win. Celtic first team from the UK to win the Champions League (or equivalent back then). City have won the billy bly trophy, a coca cola bottle 5 years ago and this seasons second place trophy. What you said is incredibly stupid.
OK so Celtic and Rangers were decent when the world was in black and white, but the SPL has been ****e for a long time and nothing for the winners to brag about. Also if the Champions League was contested by the actual best teams in Europe Rangers and Celtic wouldn't get a look in.
ok so all still dont understand that regardless of hull city fans opinion on how much of a great club we are we have no history or any real pl longevity. now take joe bloggs the footballer not from hull... can you honestly tell me that joe bloggs the footballer (i hear hes good lets sign him) would choose hull city over a club with history/reputation or some sort of pl longevity? unless we offer way over the odds in terms of wages they do not choose hull city. also just to point out i never said jay jay or geo were in there prime when they were with us ffs!! i said there the only 2 player who were TRUELY brilliant players IN THERE hayday not when they were with us!!!
Originally posted by erendor Inverness don't have the same budget as Celtic or Hull City, are sitting 3rd in the Spl, pushing for a Euro spot, have beaten every team in all four Scottish leagues, are 90 years younger than HCAFC and have achieved promotion to the Spl as many times as my home town team has gained promotion to the Epl (Twice), which by anyone's standards is a magnificent achievement.
Why does the era they won it matter? And they did win their respective competitions when they were for the best teams. There was no top 4 to get into Europe back then, it was only the top team and the winners of the cup. City will never win anything in Europe. Yes the SPL as a league is tinpot. Any league where one team wins all the time and the competition is miles behind, is awful
The top 4 in the SPL would struggle to survive relegation from any of Europe's major leagues. That's why the winners don't deserve to get into the Champs League on merit - only on geography. Yes Celtic and Rangers were decent in their heyday but that has no bearing on today. We finished above Forest this season who won the Champions League twice but that's irrelevant because they're not the same team. I reckon if we had played to the same level we have this season but in the SPL we would have won it, and if Celtic had played in our league they wouldn't have made the play-offs.
it really does not matter if they deserve to be there or not... they are!! and its an atttraction to players. it also does not matter if we are a better team, on papper celtic are a bigger attraction and club than hull city. and the forrest example i woukd put us above them obviously we are a pl team there a championship team. however if we both got promoted this season i think players would choose them over use again due to past history/reputation of the club. unless we payed over the odds...
