Looking at the squad of available players beyond this Summer we have: Sone Aluko Alex Bruce Tom Cairney James Chester Abdoulaye Faye Joe Dudgeon Corry Evans Matty Fryatt Jack Hobbs Eldin Jakupovic Robert Koren Aaron McLean Cameron Stewart Conor Townsend Nick Proschwitz Stephen Quinn Robbie Brady David Meyler The usual positions you are looking to cover are: Goalkeeper Right back Left Centre back Right Centre back Left back Right wing back/winger Left wing back/winger Holding midfield Attacking midfield Lone Striker No. 10 So, if you fit our players into the positions they can "normally" play, and given you need at least 2 quality players for each position (3 for goalkeeper) plus a few utilities mixed in here and there, you can see the extent of how our current squad falls short of what is required: Goalkeeper: David Stockdale, Eldin Jakupovic Right back: Ahmed Fathi Left Centre back: Jack Hobbs, Alex Bruce Right Centre back: James Chester, Abdoulaye Faye, Paul McShane Left back: Joe Dudgeon, Connor Townsend Right wing back/winger: Cameron Stewart, Ahmed Elmohamady Left wing back/winger: Robbie Brady Holding midfield(2): Corry Evans, David Meyler, Stephen Quinn Attacking midfield(2): Robert Koren, Tom Cairney, George Boyd Lone Striker: Nick Proschwitz, Gedo No. 10: Sone Aluko, Matty Fryatt, Aaron McLean I have put in italics those loanees that are likely to turn into permanents this Summer. Now, mix into the equation the players who are unlikely to be anything other than "squad" players and only used in abnormal circumstances: McShane, Jakupovic, Alex Bruce, Abdoulaye Faye, Connor Townsend, Tom Cairney, Cameron Stewart, Matty Fryatt, and Aaron McLean. (Faye is unlikely to start many games because of his age and the type of opposition we will be up against) So, as well as signing David Stockdale, Fathi, Elmo, Boyd and Gedo on permanents, I reckon we need: 1 x Goalkeeper 1 x Rightback 2 x Centrebacks 1 x Left Wingback 1 x Holding Midfielder 1 x Attacking Midfielder 1 x Lone Striker So that's 8 new players on top of David Stockdale, Fathi, Elmo, Boyd and Gedo, maybe 2 or 3 would be loans. That would be a squad of around 28 pros and 3 loans, which is pretty similar in terms of number to what we have had this season.
2x new keepers (i dont want stockdale in the prem) 2x new strikers 1-2x new cm 1-2x new cb 1 new rb 1 new lb 1 new winger (attacking mid if you will) and we should be good to go i include boyd, elmo, gedo in the squad the rest will not be here im not even too sure gedo will
I think changing the squad too much will had a negative effect on the players. I think 2 keepers, Elmo, CM (Bridcutt), CB, and 2 ST.
If we are to spend any money whatsoever, it has to be on a goal scorer. If we spend 8m on a goal scorer and bugger all (just freebies and loanes) on anyone else I will be happy.
wait so your serious? your looking at two players who if they did move will be moving to quailty teams!!! your everton your arsenals your liverpools etc..... now lets look at celtic vs hull city: celtic: rich history garunteed league title (despite being a joke league) and CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL!!! hull city: no history, in a relegation scrap, no medals, and not a chance in hell of EUROPEAN FOOTBALL!!! now tell me how hull city is a better option than celtic without your blinkers on....
Jesus.. Your assessment was fruitfully delightful, however i don't concur and wish hull city to sign both, did i say they would come nor did i say we will spend the £15 odd mill? No, now shoo and get back to class and don't disrespect hull city like that
Plus hull city are automatically better due to not being managed by neil lennon and also not being celtic or playing against inverness
how is it disrespecting hull city? we dont have any history of sucsess, hence why no one has wanted to join us over the years unless on a last payday or getting more wages than they should be!! i belive bruce will be name/reputation enough to attract a better quiality of player to us though not just 1 off quaility players who were past it. geovanni/jay jay to name the two only true quaility players in there hay day i can think off.
Plus remember were hooper came from.. Even kenny miller, kris boyd to name a fee scored for fun up there, the level of quality in the other 11 teams is abysmal.. And we all know how ****e miller was in england and well boyd.... But being at celtic their prices are overinflated beyond belief...
i dont think hooper would be all that great in the prem, if he moved though it would be to a better class of team than us. i belive even fatty fryup who i dont rate at all would do well in the spl, thats how **** it is. but champions league football over pl relegation scrap? no brainer wanyama looks quaility though i must say.
Depends though, 2-3 possible decent games a year versus 38 in the the most watched league in the world, fryatt would do great in the spl, id see him scoring 20 goals a season at celtic/motherwell/ dundee plus all that haggis and deep fried glaswegian food
it only depends if you have an affiliation with a club, or if you move to a team with a chance of getting european football. no player would move to a relegation fighting pl club over spl/champions league team celtic. champions league football for however short far outweighs the pl mid table/relegation dog scrap. not to mention the money celtic get means they could offer much more in wages than most pl/championship teams.
For one, Hooper and Wanyama wouldn't be going to your Arsenals or your Liverpools. Wanyama would maybe go to a higher placed foreign team, eg Benfica or Atletico. Hooper would sign for a Swansea or a Norwich. So why not us? Also, I'm pretty sure Hull City has won 4 Promotions in 10 years?
apart from the hideos over inflated price tags, yes their wages will be too high for us..i expect if we manage to stay up next season, we will go for the likes of hooper though
i disagree with pretty much all of that and think they would only move to them sorts of teams, but lets look at it this way then. there going to move to your swanseas and norwichs ok so they have pretty much established themselves as mid table prem teams. so let me think as a neutral who would i rate high and rather go to hull city or your swanseas and norwhichs who have been in the prem longer than us?? i would have to say swanseas and norwhichs (also dont think he would move to norwich celtic are a bigger club than norwhich). thats why *not us?* we are not a team such as your swanseas (cup winners this season play lovely football), sunderlands (rich pl history), fulhams (mid table prem team), stokes (proven themselevs as a mid table prem team), west hams (rich history and proven good enough for prem), southamptons (proven pl quality), newcastles (rich history as a pl team). as much as i would love to say we could beat the above teams to players we couldn't!!! they have reputations (rightly or wrongly) and are bigger clubs than us. we are unfashionable small club who are lucky to be in the prem and based in a ****hole of a place to live (that is how 90% of players will look at us) like it or not its true!!
So every teams should sign players who are the same "standard" as their club? If clubs had people like you running them the whole league would stay the same. There's this thing called ambition, it helps people/teams grow and become better. It really is a foreign concept. You have to sign top 4 players to get into the top 4, you have to sign premiership players, to get into the premiership. We have to sign top half players, so we can stay in the premiership!
