When has Senderos got sent off? I know he's cost us goals, but I don't remember him getting a red card or causing one for anyone else.

I think he may be referring to the fact that Senderos always gets at least one yellow card per game, usually early on too, so is walking a tightrope for the rest of the match.

    Okay, that makes more sense.

For me the most likely scenario will be that Jol stays and hopefully one of Berba and Ruiz will go, if not both of them. This will address Jol's inability to find a formation that fits both of these two "walkers" in the team.

Should both go, then we have both funds and salary space to get additions. Berba's 13 goals came in cost of being toothless up front.

I don't think Sidwell should go. Neither Senderos.

Bring on a quality CB along Hangeland or a youngster to learn the trade. But we need to sort out midfield. We need a powerful defensive midfielder and one creative. Keep Kara for back-up and limited time to help any transition or provide some support. Ruiz or Berba leaving means we need 1-2 up front. That will be a challenge.

In any case out PL status has priority....

On Sidwell, I read a stat the other day saying he has the second highest successful tackle record in the PL. Impressive really, given his two sendings-off and the games he's missed due to suspension.

The one strategic move that's essential, and Jol himself has alluded to this, is to significantly reduce our reliance on loan and stop
    gap signings.

Just as an example, right at the moment we're in a dog fight where the commitment to the Club of (some) players currently in that position is questionable.

Is it Jol’s future strategy to build a team around Bryan? In an interview this week he said,

"He is one of my better players. He's always playing for the team and looking for runners to give that last pass," Jol said.

    "Maybe we need another passer.”

“The thing is you miss him in midfield and if he's not up front, he's playing too deep.

    That is my dilemma."

Not sure why he felt the need to come out and defend Ruiz unless it’s an admission that he (Jol) doesn’t know how to play Bryan and Berba together. If so it’s also an admission of lacking tactical nous on Jol’s part.

In fact the whole statement is contradictory and surely the real key is in the first sentence, “looking for runners”. That’s what we need Jol.

Jol, has spoken of his inability to find a formation that fits both runners...

Unless Ruiz is watching a different team Ruiz is one of the reasons we are suffering this season....

Certainly not, I mean, it's not as if anyone has ever 'voiced any concerns' over Ruiz.

    Ahem.

There are so many rumors flying about at the moment, regarding us loosing Berbs at the seasons end,and I
for one think he will be moving on, and very sad to see him go.
I know he has got his critics, but he is a class above those around him,and without his goalscoring contribition
this season we could be now looking up at QPR.
5mil,+ the Dembele,& Demps sale,we surely must be looking at bringing in quality.
So please Mr Jol if you stay no more freebies, and cheap signings on long contracts.

In his press conference today Jol said he plans to meet with MAF shortly to discuss recruitment plans for next season. He added,

“You need a lot of money to buy four or five players. If eight or nine or 10 players are leaving a club, you need at least five or six to come in.

“Hopefully we’re able to do that. Otherwise we have to be very creative again.”

Oh well, same old, same old then. Unless of course he can raise some money for those eight or nine or ten leaving - although a fair number of them wll be free agents.

We will be counting beans again...

Probably we are still paying the 3 over £10m transfers we did and have performed above expectations!! :emoticon-0104-surpr

    'Creative again'

Oh well, oh well. Here's to more over the hill free transfers then. MAF needs to go win or bust this summer, we need a lot of funds or we go down.

Honestly, it's hard to pin too much blame on Jol for the lack of depth when you consider that he is in credit over his transfer dealings in his two years with us. He's done well to sustain us through free/loan signings but the club need to address the lack of investment, especially in light of the extra TV money coming our way.

We don't need to get £15m players in, but we certainly need to spend more than £8m if we want to stay competitive.

If Jol is staying on he has to look at the spine of the team. You need Good players to build around.
These aren't areas where you can experiment.
Schwarzer needs replacing, Hangeland is here for another 2 seasons (but needs partner),
Creative Defensive midfielder, Creative Central midfield player are required,
Need to look at Main striker if Berbatov leaves or Attacking Midfield if he stays.
Once you have a spine then you build round it

    What he said.

I'd like to see a goalscoring striker to partner Berbatov, giving us a partnership where both halves are expected to weigh in with regular goals. As others have said, we need to rebuild the centre of midfield too.
