Today is one of those typical British summers days, one that is all about the weather. I hope the earlier watering plans at Chester do not cause issues with the ground if/when the rain hits. Ruler Of The World is a horse I am looking forward to seeing, purely because he has a good name, and horses with good names often do well in big races (think George Washington, Frankel, Snow Fairy) and lets face it he has to beat the dreadfully named Havana Beat and Feel Like Dancing. On names alone he is well out ahead of this field.

Over at Newton Abbot this evening Round Tom makes his hunter chase debut, and he should take all the beating, but the one I wouldn't put you off at a big price is Parazar whom I thought looked fit and well at Cheltenham and this is a much weaker race. He is a big price at 33/1 and wouldn't be out of it on ratings or form.

Morning, troops. Hope everyone well. Cor blimey though liven up a bit. Chop, chop.

Nothing for me today but will be watching events at God’s own racecourse, Newton Abbot, with keen interest as always. Although it must be pointed out that the Mr Henderson who has the most runners at the meet isn’t our Mr Henderson as he just saddles the one runner (Who’s Cross in the 3.05) as opposed to the other chaps 4. My regular readers will know how fascinated I am (and have been since I was a little lad) by selling hurdles at this course and the 4.15 looks up to its usual standards with more plots than in an Agatha Christie novel guaranteed. If someone held a gun to my head and asked me the most likeliest winner I’d say the Pipe’s STARLIFE as they look up to something here with a beast who 12 months ago was running in Listed affairs.

I will give a tip for the weekend so people reach for your pens and right down the words – Master of the Game, Kempton, Sunday. The animal who is named after his trainer makes his fencing bow and should prove difficult to beat over the big ‘uns. His possible opponents could include Paintball and Mulligan’s Man but fences are what Master of the Game was bred for and he could be a good ‘un.

I say Barney old boy, I see that the ball of the paint is running tonight at Sunny Southwell, and he has been given a pair of blinkers for his first attempts at the big obstacles. Not exactly what you want to see when a horse is trying a new career! He is up against Venetia's Nagpur who was so gallant in the Martin Pipe at the festival, and it looks a fair beginners chase this evening. Throw in Secret Edge, Cloudy Bob and Timesawastin and it could be an eyeopener for this time of year.
 
Crickey is Paintball running tonight, Nass! Didn’t realise and am a bit disappointed as was hoping he’d keep the price up for Master of the Game. Just had a look at tonight's event (Happy 77th to Colin Ferry by the way) and it looks well above average. He looked on the cusp of something big after winning the 2012 Imperial Cup but has down absolutely nothing, and I do mean nothing, since. Fences look a ‘last chance saloon’ for him. Secret Edge is very similar in that he was a very decent juvenile but also done nothing since. I’d have to side with dear old Venetia’s animal but the bookie chappies are taking no chance with him today and going just 7/4.
 
He won the Imperial Cup after having a breathing op, and hasn't run well since. Perhaps it took a good deal out of him?

Well, hence why we don't sit on the top table with Barney Chuckles, which by the way is a lovely name for a filly.

It's all about Moyes apparently, I hope he doesn't regret it as for me he is going to have to go some to keep Man Utd above the maraudering swathes of blue from Chelsea and Manchester City. I am tempted to have a dabble on the former next year if the special one does return. Klopp may be the chap for the latter too, if rumours of Mancini are to be believed.

We should have a table of usernames, from the good to the downright dreadful (sorry NamNed I am talking about your moniker).
 
in that last race at chester, if the rain has got in to the ground then Tres Coronas is a likely type, loves the juice, although winning mostly at Newcastle--acts perfectley well on the Roodee-- good luck all

I tell you something squire, the attractiveness of the ladies at Chippenham train station has increased in recent weeks, they must be expecting a visit from the famous Barney Chuckles.

Im siding with Hugh Taylor in the 2.45 and going for Mister Impatience 16/1 in the hope the ground gets really wet.

I've had to sack off Sky Sports News - every single time I chance my arm and tune in, it's yet another talking head, some ex-nobody, telling what happened when he met the chap!

Christ, you'd think he'd died!!! In fact when the red-nosed ratbag finally DOES pop his clogs, they'll probably announce a day of mourning <steam>

And I'll emigrate.

Makes you laugh - we're in a play off semit final this evening and the torygraph never even mentioned it this morning.
