Yes, he did provide that pass, and it was inch-perfect. I refuse to call him a disappointment this year because I think I'm right in saying that he has not been given more than one game in a row and only about three or four in total.
Thanks for confirming that VC and I totally agree that fox hasn't been given a run in the team, but has tended to play mostly in cup games where a very understrength squad was fielded. also, his pass for Jackson's goal against Posh was 'inch perfect'!!!
2 players I would love to see signed for us next season are Tom Ince & Shaun Maloney. Players out: Hoolahan, Tierney, Jackson, Butterfield & Holt. I know Ince had Liverpool sniffing around but I think it we put up the cash they are achievable. Two quality attacking players that would give us the much needed support for RVW next season. Think Hoolahan & Holts best days are behind them and feel we need to be ruthless in moving forward which begins with the changing of the old guard.
Why would you want to get rid of first team players? Yes, their best days might be behind them, but Holt is still better than our other striker options - much better to sell the worst players and replace with better players. Move Hoolahan and Holt down the pecking order, rather than just replacing the top. I am also convinced that when the team are playing well, both Hoolahan and Holt can be very effective and have at least a year more of usefulness in them, though maybe in a reduced role. Holt in particular brings huge amounts of leadership, you could see as much in the Reading game. Keeping our best players and losing our worst would also provide us with strength in depth and so less risk to the team if a key player gets injured. As for Butterfield - no sense in getting rid of him as he has cost us very little and may well come good. Plenty of teams buy players and send them out on loan for improvement, doesn't mean they should be sold straight away. I would also love to see Ince come to Norwich but I think he is way, way out of our price range. Maloney could be a good shout although he is getting on a bit - for the right price I think he would be worth bringing in for a couple of years.
What about Kone? I like Maloney to though. Wigan have good attacking players the problem with them is defense.
I think I'd only want to see Holt go as part of a swap deal for someone else (ie Hooper), he's still got something to offer, even if it's just from the subs bench. Hoolahan just needs competition. When we play with a CAM, he's really the only one who's done that. Bringing in a DM would allow Howson to challenge him, but someone new (ideally younger) to come in and play there would be great. Ideally I'd like someone with the control, neat touches and creativity of Wessi, but with a bit more pace and height so that when we're whipping crosses in, we'd have RvW, Newlahan and the opposite winger challenging for the ball. Ideally we'd then have Biglia or similar on the edge of the area waiting to follow-up on clearances.
I think atleast 2 players we will try to sign in the summer will be Hooper and Redmond. Ins: Hooper, Redmond, Ince, Bridcutt, Van Ginkel, Davies & Garrido Outs: Tierney, Fox, Ward, Vaughan, Surman, Jackson & unfortunatly Holt Ruddy Whittaker Bassong Davies/Turner Garrido Bridcutt Tettey/Johnson Snodgrass Van Ginkel Ince/Redmond Van Wolfswinkel Ruddy Whittaker Bassong Davies/Turner Garrido Snodgrass Bridcutt Tettey/Johnson Ince/Redmond Van Wolfswinkel Hooper
