Many premiership managers are going to be happy that Ferguson is retiring.Please do not get me wrong, he did a wonderful job at United: but the person coming to take over from him would never match his records.Moyes or any one have a job in his hand. Just like Paisley at Liverpool, I am not sure if Manchester United are going to dominate the premiership in the future. We wait to seefor Sir Alex Ferguson for Bob Paisley.
Been saying all day that its not impossible to replace Fergie. We managed something similar three times... Paisley replaced Shanks. ***an was only in charge for one season but won a treble. Kenny won trophies too.
some of the mancs have shifted their hopes on to Pep to match Paisley now that Fergie's retired even though he manages bayern now
I think Moyes would be a sensible appointment. Top European managers like Mourinho and Klopp would come in and probably change quite a bit and do it rather quickly. In addition, they would probably feel threatened by having Fergie shadowing their every move. Someone like Moyes is still relatively young and is more likely to keep things steady, not rock the boat, and use Fergie as a guide rather than see him as a threat. I see him as the understudy.

Klopp has done a great job, but surely he's a different kettle of fish to Fergie, Klopp is like other managers in the Bundesliga benefiting from the changes in Germany re their football as a whole. Or more to the point, what has Klopp won, Dortmund apart? Having a good team and succeeding with them is a far cry from building a dynasty. I think if Moyes had been around 20 years earlier he probably would have won a a few titles, the PL financial structure ensures teams like Everton can never win the league and never will, you only need to look at who's won the PL since it began, Wenger assembled a great team, it was not on the cheap those invincibles, but once they dissipated what have arsenal done? Blackburn spent heavily Chelsea and City are the only others and in 2009 Liverpool should have won it but also had spent quite a few bob compared to Everton to have that chance of winning it, United have not maintained their dominance by not spending either, and we know the longevity of that squad that was assembled years ago has had a lot to do with the reduced spending at United too plus the fact Fergie gets more out of average players than most managers and makes a team that can win.
To be fair, he is only 45 years old which is very young for a manger. In addition, this is only his second job as a manger. Not only that, he is competing with Bayern Munich which puts his achievements into perspective (2 League titles). Dortumund don't have the attraction of the big heavyweights around Europe so they will continue to lose players. But Klopp has put Dortmund back on the map.
I do think that when Fergie dos eventually sit down and takes a look back at what he has done he will be extremely proud of his achievements, and rightly so. What made him the great manager that he was, is that he always wanted to win more and more... But... He will look at his European record and wonder if he really got the best out of what he had at his disposal. The fact that the treble 1999 side didnt go on to dominate in Europe after what i personally think has been the best side he assembled in all of his time there... The latest fling of 3 finals in 4 years nearly got him to where he sees the club, back to back winners of the Champions League Cup, but they came up against the mighty Barca, twice, and beat Chavski in the other. That is the only time that he got the club to be dominant in Europe and came away with 1 trophy... A great manager who's got some records that will probably never be bettered, but i think he would admit that it could have been better in Europe...
but even that was dependent on Terry slipping, otherwise it would be just 1999 which was also hugely lucky too, Bayern dominated the game and United got very lucky
for me Fergie's betst trait was being able to take advantage of a team trying to hold a lead in a match, he was a master of that.
Im sorry to say it but as neither a Utd or Liverpool fan, SAF is the greatest manager of all time. The majority of neutrals and media think this even if they dont like him. Clough, Paisley etc were greats but Fergie is the master.
Can't we just appreciate that Ferguson was a brilliant manager, and famous for his consistency? Paisley's star shone brightest but Fergie's the longest, and it wasn't exactly dull either.
in fairness..... ferguson would have liked more european success and will admit it cos he's a winner. Ferguson build how many great sides? Paisely built 3, i think perosnally ferguson's acheivements over the longer period makes him the best.
