Interesting read, apparently he wants Samba to stay!? And has confirmed that Cesar has played his last game for us, he wants green in goal next season - not good IMO.

Harry Redknapp has begun his Queens Park Rangers shake-up - but is determined to keep big money signing Chris Samba.

Centre half Samba was the club's biggest January deal as he cost £12m but Redknapp has made it clear that he is the one he really wants to keep despite him failing to help the Hoops stay up.

Samba, 29, joined from Anzhi Makhachkala in January and Zenit St Petersburg made a bigger offer a few weeks later to take him back to Russia and are still interested.

Redknapp also says he wants England keeper Rob Green to stay admits Brazilian international Julio Cesar has played his last game for QPR and will definitely leave this summer.

QPR boss Redknapp said: "I don't know what will happen with Chris. I'd like to keep him, he'd be the best centre half in the Championship. He had one bad day at Fulham and everyone got on his case. He's a good player and we need him back playing.

"I think Julio is a player for a top club, a top Italian team, a top Spanish team or a top Premier League team. He is good enough to play anywhere.

"Julio is in the Brazil team. He is not a player for the Championship. He has got a World Cup coming up. He needs to be playing in the Premier League or a big league abroad.

"But it is a difficult one because I don't see him playing here next season, so I want to play Rob Green from now on. Rob has come in and done well. Rob will probably be my goalkeeper next season."

Redknapp, who is preparing to ship out a huge raft of players in the next few weeks, is already scouring for Championship players who will have the know-how to get them promoted.

The QPR boss went to Crystal Palace's final game of the season against Peterborough last Saturday lunchtime and kept tabs on Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak and winger Yannick Bolasie.

QPR also fancy Peterborough striker Dwight Gayle but could face competition from Norwich and Cardiff.

That is a tad harsh on Cesar. He saved many more points than he lost us though I will concede that the Villa games was a significant down turn in his, and QPR's. fortune.

No problem with Green, every keeper is capable of the odd clanger and he comes across as a decent honest pro. Also one of the few to clap the fans after each game.

Cesar is a bit of a show pony. Rarely catches the ball, makes simply saves look flash, doesn't appear to call and has the weakest dead ball kick in the Prem. A great shot stopper yes but I reckon on a game by game basis (apart from Swansea) Greeno has been the more consistent keeper.

    Green for me.

Cesar laughing after the Wigan game with one of the Latin Wigan players and on another occasion wearing a chelsea shirt said it all.

He was only in London for a holiday with his family that much is obvious.

I didn't expect Cesar to play for us in the Championship and I'll be very happy with Green. Despite limited opportunities, he's played very well when given the chance. I'm sure he'll drop the odd clanger but he'll more than make up for that with some brilliant saves. He's just done an interview on QPR World and came across as an intelligent and thoughtful guy - not something you can say about the majority of footballers.

As for Samba, give the lad a chance. He's played consistently well in the Premier League until, like so many of our other expensive signings, he fell victim to the QPR curse. I'm sure this is one bloke who's going to come good.

As others have said Green hasn't been THAT bad for us, when he's played (swansea aside) and if he plays with the confidence of being the "number one" in the NPC he could do well for us.

Samba has also made it well known that he hasn't been fully fit since his arrival at LR so maybe after the chance to regain full fitness he could be the defensive collosus we had all hoped he would be?

Agree, Rob Green should prove to be a more than adequate #1 keeper in the NPC. I would perhaps suggest an alternative #2 keeper, perhaps Tom Heaton from relegated Bristol City - he played well for us a few years when on loan.

Similarly, Chris Samba should provide us with a capable, solid centre back presence (especially when fully fit) plus he also gives us an aerial threat up front from set pieces (if someone can deliver a decent ball in?).

To be fair how thats hardly his fault when so many hit the 1st man, our set pieces have been diabolical for years and thats not Sambas fault.

Harry's priority should be finding someone who can actually deliver the ball in the right area, just for starters...
