QPR loanee: I didn’t want to leave Loftus Road

QPR defender Anton Ferdinand admitted that he did not want to leave Loftus Road in January, revealing that manager Harry Redknapp told him that he wasn’t in his plans.

The 28-year-old moved to Turkish side Buraspor on a loan deal until the end of the season but admitted he wanted to try and help the R’s survive in the Premier League.

“I’ve been playing professional football for 10 years and had never been relegated. I know what it’s all about and I felt I had the right experience to give QPR,” Ferdinand told The Sun. “I didn’t want to go anywhere. I wanted to stay and fight.

“But the manager made it clear I wasn’t in his plans and when they accepted the offer from Bursaspor I had to take it. It’s great playing in Turkey but there’s still nothing like being in the Premier League.

“I’ve been watching out for QPR’s results every week. I’m still contracted to them for another season. Bursaspor have an option to buy me but if it’s decided I’m needed to help QPR get back up then that’s what I’ll do.”

He might just be good enough for the Championship but I hope Bursaspor take up the option on him.

Not a fan but I can't fault that attitude. Don't think he's made out for the Championship though. His propensity to let the ball drop/bounce will see him murdered in the Championship imo.

Why do people want him gone? ... good player and would grow well in a winning side. IMO

Too much of this get rid of him , buy him etc ... new era ... STOCKCHECK ... go back to before NW built our last decent side You couldn't even dreamed of AF playing for QPR say in 2009 and would have swapped him for Gorkss,Conolly, Fitz Hall or Ramage I guarantee it!

We start winning again and we will! I will wait until then to make my point

Can't agree, how many goals did we concede from set plays or crosses while he was at the heart of our defense? Simply not good enough in my opinion.

1-0 up at old trafford and then concede 3 goals in the 8 minutes after he comes on, that says it all, awful, awful player.

Can't believe people rate him. He's been appalling and always looks like he's just had a kebab. I've said it before but the Terry kerfuffle did him a huge favour as it bought him support from the fans. West Brom away wss the single worst performance I think I've ever seen from a QPR defender. He is **** and would not have had a career at tbe top level if he wasn't Rio's brother.

Don't personally rate him but at least he takes a bit of pride in wearing the shirt. Can't say the same for many others.

The occasional fist pump and clapping of Q block doth not a passionate footballer make.

Sorry, Anton, I'd rather you stayed in Turkey or anywhere, really, other than Loftus Road.

Doesn't say much for football in the Turkish Not-So-Super League.

DT, if we keep players like Anton we will start winning, when we reach the Conference...

That's not what I've based my assumption on my friend. Some players you can just generally see it. Note I said "a bit" as well

Fair enough. I can't say I've seen it myself. If he was that keen to play for us he'd have kept himself in some sort of shape. His arse took up half the penalty area by the end.

I was kind of hoping this thread might be about Faurlin or Cisse or somebody who could actually do something for us going forward in the NPC.
As it is its Ferdinand who's been pretty useless at any level.
    Ho hum.....................
