Whoever United get, their dominance is over.

None of the potential new managers will enjoy such sustained dominance over refs and the FA for a start.

It's the end of their golden era

Yeah cause the success had nothing to do with great players and a top manager.

Good to see that at least one Chelsea fan recognises that Mourinho could never be as dominant as SAF for such a long period of time <ok>

Whoever takes over is on a loser whilst the drunk is still sat in the stands.

This spells the end of an era for United. They've won 5 of the last 7 titles. They won't win 5 of the next 7 without Fergie. He has been the difference on many occassions because he keeps his house in order, gets the best out of average players (oshea, park, fletcher etc) and stability helps breed long term success.

Without him United will still do well but can't see the dominance continuing. The young players fergie is leaving behind aren't THAT good and Rio, Scholes and Giggs will soon be gone.

that is because fergie was given loads of time and he was from a different decade! Mourinho et al will never get that luxury in this day..

bad to see no moanu fan will ever see these differences..

And presumably you accept that Fergie would have been out on his arse long before the success had he taken over such a big club in the modern era and failed to get success for a while??

Whoever comes in it'll be like having your mother-in-law at work with you. Fergie had the same with Bobby Charlton.

And pretty sure whoever will be told that Giggs and Scholes will need to be on the coaching staff at least, and lets not forget Mr OCD trainer himself, D. Beckham.

Doesn't need to. His imminent return to the PL already had Fergie quaking in his boots hence early retirement. Could never get the better of Jose when it counts and never will. <ok>

I was thinking Joses return might have prompted the retirement

Exactly. Most Chelsea fans have been wary anyway given C.L is not secured.

A win tonight and an announcement re Moyes to United will go along way to convincing me the special one is coming home though!!
