we at swansea get very nervous at this time of the year, i hope that they are not looking at laudrup, looking forward to sunday and a great game. as for fergie what else can you say but a true legend of the game, and a sad day for all football
Paisley and Ferguson. Very different people, ergo very different perspectives. We'll no doubt speak later. I have a day off tomorrow as I have to meet my employment law judge mate regarding Vic's Tribunal. I'll be properly lashed and vapourisered up tonight
Very sad day not just for your club but for British football. Really the end of an era, Shankly, Busby, Nicholson, Paisley, Clough and Ferguson - they simply don't make them in that mould any longer.
Conflicting reports on whether Moyes is the man the United board want. This was back in February. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/376731/David-Moyes-is-not-the-man-for-Manchester-United Sunday Express Sport has been given a detailed description of the qualities United are searching for when Ferguson finally brings his trophy-bulging reign to an end. The identikit picture, revealed by a leading Old Trafford executive, places European experience as a key component in the makeup of Fergusonâs successor. The source, who will have a say in who steps into Fergusonâs shoes, indicated that the man charged with taking the club into a new era would already be well-versed in European combat. âA knowledge of regular top-line European football is an essential ingredient of what we are looking for,â confirmed the United executive.
BRITAIN faces the prospect of yet another unemployed, angry Scottish person at large. Alexander Ferguson, a Glaswegian, will be released during the summer, with experts warning of a devastating effect on tourism, the economy and everything else. Professor Henry Brubaker, from the Institute for Studies, said: “The one thing that puts people off visiting Britain is the very real prospect of being accosted in the street by an inexplicably furious Scotsman. “Football clubs have proved to be very effective at containing belligerent Scottish people who would otherwise be free to vent their spleen in a public space. “The football clubs should be forced to keep them, for ever, in a gated community where they can scream at each other and work on their endless, incomprehensible grudges.” Meanwhile, Ferguson’s release has prompted golf clubs across the UK to draw up contingency plans in case they become the venue for his ongoing campaign of terror. Martin Bishop, secretary of Hatfield Golf and Country Club, said: “We have taken down our website and prepared temporary signage to make the place look like a garden centre.” Bishop added: “He now has the chance to travel. They should put him on the Orient Express so he can call everyone in Venice a bastard.”
I'd be staggered if Moyes is given the job. He's done some good things at Everton, but with all due respect, Everton aren't 1/10 of the size and challenge that United is. The United job nowadays is a world away from what it was from when Fergie first came to the club. Moyes has been at the club for more than 10 years, what has he achieved? One top 4 finish? They then got knocked out at the qualifying stages the following season. Even Fergie came here on the back of European success with Aberdeen. We're still in debt, and now being on the NYSE, success is even more paramount than it ever has been to make sure we continue to win things consistently. Europe is a massive source of our income, would the board really be willing to put a man in charge who has never even managed a club into the Champions League group stage? Then there's the lack of silverware. Even Swansea and Birmingham have picked up silverware in recent years. He had a huge opportunity this season in the FA Cup, they crashed out at home to Wigan. Then of course the dog ****e football that they play. He has no charm, no charisma. It would be a sad sad day if Gollum were placed in charge. If you want someone who's young, has European experience and has silverware, and don't want Mourinho, then the job that Jurgen Klopp has done at Dortmund in the 5 years he's been at the club is far far more deserving than anything Moyes has done.
QPR fan in peace. I, like many am not a great fan of SAF as a person, but **** me he is a great manager. Good luck in your retirement. Jealous? Me? ****ing right I am!!
True, but I don't think Klopp is going anywhere soon. Seems a loyal type and nothing he has said lately indicates he'll be going anywhere. Moyes is heavilly tipped because it's pretty slim pickings out there. If you consider who is actually available and say Jose comes to CFC or even PSG, who else is there really? Pep's going to Bayern, Ancelotti probably to Real, Rafa wont happen obviously, no other obvious candidates within the P.L etc
my heart is broken end of an era please log in to view this image can't believe it, after 20 years ..will never be easy to see someone else sitting on his chair during the matches
David Gill rules Moyes out of running? Manchester United chief executive David Gill, speaking to MUTV: "We have to look forward now and I think any manager coming in will inherit a great squad and great staff around him. It is a dream job. I won't speculate on the announcement but I think we will move relatively quickly. "In Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex we got in managers who got involved in all aspects of the club. That degree of loyalty is crucial to the success of Manchester United. He (the next manager) needs the required football experience in terms of domestic and European requirements, so it is a small pool."
Interesting. What about the guy at Juve? He's made some noises about wanting to move away from Italy this season and has just won back to back seria A titles.
I though the same when I read that. However knowing Gill that means Moyes is a dead cert to get the job now
It's a great day for Utds rivals, whoever takes over Utd will be considerably weaker I've always believed the side of ferguson which so irritates all his rivals has been the edge which has kept him on top year on year Thoroughly loathsome but its impossible to knock the achievements of a man the like of which will never be surpassed Delighted he's gone
Moyes as replacement. I'm sure City, Chelsea, Bayern, Real and Barca will be quaking in their boots.....
Agree with this. Respect to Fergie, no matter what you think of him the PL will be a strange place without him.
