unless a horse is at its prime racing weight it could be carrying 30, 40 50 lbs overweight--only the trainer and co know this--mark Johnson was trying to get the weights to be declared pre race for our benefit-- makes a mockery of handicapping though if you have know idea how much 'extra ' fat the animal is carrying..
Hi to All - weather is somehow holding up .. no rain to speak of this morning - drying breeze ... so all to play for !
It was me. Last three times she ran. Draw is crap today and Quelly rides that other one that's been backed.
Absolutely nothing at Chester is asking me to back it, which is a shame as I have a day off work and itchy punting fingers. You'd have to be a degenerate gambler to think of betting in a Maiden at a track like this, but the race I'm drawn to is the 3.50, mainly because Stoute's Russian Realm is taking such a big chunk out of the market based on last season's form. I have fond memories of the exploits of this one's dam, but at the prices I'm drawn to side with Brian Meehan's Number One London, who has decent 3 yold form having finished close up over 1m in a Newmarket Maiden at the Craven meeting. The extra 2f should help. A few of these have decent entries, including W Haggis' unraced Derby entry Battalion, but you have to bet on something, and besides, I like the name; Number One London, 1pt win.
i agree its hard, but if anyone can its John Egan-- seen him do it many times--david evans and egan go way back.....
The 3 non-runners in the card commencer at Chester were due to be drawn 13, 14 and 15 out of 15. What a surprise!
I agree with pulling them out. WHy should connections pay all that money in fuel etc when they have next to no chance of winning because of the draw?
Bob, you can't take that attitude, old boy. Where's your Corithian spirit and lest not forget the erstwhile motto 'you've got to be in it to win it'?!? Crickey, it would be like a team pulling The Arsenal in the Cup and then not turning up because they had no chance of winning.
