http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22437591 Why the hell isn't this on our OS. Which by the way is getting piss poor. Its posting **** everyday that nobody really cares about Anyway, Thoughts?
As I type that it gets put on our OS http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20130507-keithburt-811786.aspx Still......... It hasn't changed my mind
It sounds like KB, Jon Lansdown and Keith Drawl will be in charge of that Wiz. I think SOD will just say what type of player he wants. They'll get some. SOD will have his word.
I hadn't thought about it, in fact I didn't even have an opinion about it but that really could work, Lennie Lawrence and Paul Trollope for the "gas" were successful and SOD is head and shoulders better than Trollope as a coach(I quite liked Trollope mind)... Yes that seems a bloody good move....
Im happy with it too. It will definitely freshen things up idea wise and we can get a new scout in as well. Pete Johnson anyone?
Completely agree of the **** on OS.. i go on there and see something like "Richard Foster: We are motivated" Lewin Nyatanga "lets do it for the fans"
Spent 7 seasons at florist as head of recruitment so probably competent of his own ability in recruiting players, Sod says I need a midfielder Keith says try this one
The major factor for me is that we now have a "Football person" on the board. So long as Keith Burt remains with us, irrespective of who is Head Coach, there will be a "Football person" between the Head Coach and Steve Lansdown, who in theory will rebut at source, anything that he (KB) believes is detrimental to the Club before it gets to SL. For example, would we have signed David James if Burt had been here then? Or splashed totally exorbitant wages on travelling mercenaries who would come here but not give a toss at all about the club and supporters. At long last, we appear to have a management structure in place that will allow everyone to do their job, but with the checks that any other business outside of football would have had decades ago.
Shiny, I remember someone from the club telling us months ago that there is a time delay between when the Club post anything and when the Club Web Site Service Provider actually makes it live. Because we are using an outside company to publish our web site along with the majority of Football League Clubs, it may be outside of BCFC's control. Thus something issued at the same time to the rest of the communication world, gets on BBC web faster than City's own pages. Probably an economic solution that would be too costly for the benefits to the club. Ask David Lloyd about it. He'll come back with an answer.
Im not on about the delay with news. More about the quality of news/articles that get posted. Sometimes we wait about 3-4 days before something interesting is put on there. Yet every morning the BEP have a new article every day.
It highlights what I've been on about on anther thread. The Club need a "marketing" kick up the ass. We've got to start pushing the name of Bristol City into every face in the greater Bristol area. No wonder such a large percentage of Bristolians appear to have little interest in us or the Blue brethren.
Yup the Post has new articles every day but how many are true and how many made up? I've lost count of the number of times back page headlines of the post used to be City or Rovers sign XXXXXXXXX when all they had done was ask if they were available. Mind you if we had signed all the players they claimed we had signed back in AD's day we would probably have been European Champions.
Lets just say if they can get us playing like Forest before he was sacked "crazy decision" sat in the play-offs then that will do me. Lets hope these two can sort this big mess city find themselves in.
Good foundations are the base on which a rebuild must be based so let's hope we have bought the quality rather than the usual cheaper option (did I really just say that?).
I think it will be more of a case of SoD saying I want that specific player (rather than being given a choice of generic players for a position) but I doubt he wants to get involved and bogged down in contract negotiations - Keith's job will be to make sure the player is right for the club and then, most importantly, to do the right deal which is no doubt his speciality, his reputation going before him...
In addition to which listening to him talk on player and S O'D's own comments they are happy to work together in their current roles, also he also talks the same sort of language that S O'D talks ie the right people in the right positions, only one problem who is going to run the scouting network from now on?
I said that this would eventually happen, because most of our recently managers haven't been managers at all, but head coaches. On one side, it's something we've desperately needed. The board have had too much say in transfers, and it's something we've failed miserably with. I'm happy that SOD is happy, and this leaves no excuse regarding SOD's performance in the future. On the other, this will probably mean the board will have more say in who we sign, which is a worrying trend considering it's their fault that we're in this mess. If I'm honest, I'd be happier to see a DOF with experience outside of Britain, so we can land a few good players outside on the cheap.
You have to remember Burt still has all his contacts from his Forest days and he would have reports on any number of players who were not considered ready for the championship at the time they were scouted but now could be ready for L1 then the championship.
Burt looks and sounds like SOD's older brother. I worry about where this is going - they make Millen look interesting. Our club needs leaders capable of lifting fans - to persuade them to buy season tickets etc These 2 ? Plus of course our inspirational Board - I have serious doubts.
