Good player, a talent sadly undermined by his shocking off the field actions. I wouldn't happy ifwe did sign him, but i don't think his character is to NPs liking!

no i'd want them, better players than King. But Kings actions aren't something you can justify at all, in fact he should have been in Jail a lot longer

Being a cock is different to sexually assaulting and physically assaulting women. A player like him, sure, a person like him, no, actually him, no, never.

Good job the rugby league clubs don't take this attitude to off field antics or FC and Rovers would have been short of a few players down the years.:emoticon-0100-smile

I don't have kids but if I did I wouldn't want them looking up to somebody like this, even if he was the most talented player of all time.

Ugh I hate this debate, the man is a footballer, his job is to play football and it's what he gets paid to do. If he then goes out and smacks up some woman, that's his choice but if it doesn't affect his game when he plays, I couldn't care less if he lunged wildly at the pope or kicked Prince Phillip in the balls. I'm not condoning that sort of behaviour, on the contrary it's despicable and he was rightly imprisoned, but you can't argue the lad has talent on the field. He scores goals and that's something we didn't really do enough of last season. He will cost us nothing (sounds like a NP signing to me) and has great technical ability. If he signed for us, then scored 25 goals and got us promoted, it wouldn't matter what he did off the field. I mean, fans of other clubs wouldn't turn away from the KC because we had Marlon King. Nothing would change, other clubs can go **** themselves as far as I'm concerned.

Coventry took a punt on him this year, they aren't any different to us size wise or reputation wise. He scored goals for them and moved them up the league. Stop waiting for it all to blow up again, he has done his time and issued an apology and he won't do it again. And if he does, I'll eat a whole family bucket from Chicken George (sorry intestines).

And it's all irrelevant, because City aren't after him ^_^.

Think there would be good odds on you getting your chicken bucket treat Tommy Tiger given that he has a dozen odd convictions for all sorts of crimes. Nobody is whiter than white but it's hard to support a player like that when you know his background and it's not possible to put something like that to one side if you have any kind of 'moral compass' as DJ says.

I understand why other people might have an issue with him, but I follow football and I just appreciate his talent. Again, I do agree that what he did was bloody awful but I just couldn't dwell on it if I knew he was going to be our player.

On a brighter note, there is a strong possibility that Ricardo Vaz Te could be available soon.....where's that implied facepalm photo....

Did he? I thought he'd looked at appealing aginst the conviction?

As I said, I'd rather lose.

So you would rather we *lost* matches instead of playing a striker?

That's not what I said. I'd rather we lost matches than employed Marlon King.

The debate on Marlon is an interesting one and I wouldn't deny anyone their opinions however my own is that he was found guilty of an offence and has served his time. Just like any member of the public. I wouldn't like to think that if I went to prison for something unrelated to my employment I wouldn't be able to go back to work after serving my time.

I don't disagree in principle, but I would argue the offence was related to his employment in as much he expected his "fame" to amount to something in other peoples eyes "do you know who I am?", which should lead him to realise that his wealth come with responsibility as a role model.

Unless I missed something all Cantona did was throw a football at a referee (to get his French ban) and then take the Kick Racism Out of Football campaign literally (should have been applauded really, the guy giving him **** was a coward who thought there was nothing could be done to him). Doesn't quite equate to punching a woman in the face because she said no and having 15 or so prior convictions does it? Although I suppose he did play for Leeds as well.

Couldn't agree more. He's a sex pest and I can't see past that just because he can play a bit. Maybe that's just me .

It's irrelavant anyway because NP likes a united changing room so King won't be coming here.

I think some forget that he was regarded by quite a few players ( and Brownie) as a total cock when he was here.He started a scrap with Deano over **** all, giving it the bad boy yardie routine which just about sums him up.

    The bloke is scum.

What have you been drinking? ketermine? **** me how many MORE goals did Keith Edwards, Billy Whitehurst or Andy Payton score? ALL of which were better TECHNICALLY than King.

FFS even Pinhead Swanny scored more goals and he was a fekking defender!

Please rethink any such statement going forward:undecided:

I thought it was Windass that started on King, entirely justified, something about King being a dick lording it over one of the younger players (Cairney maybe?)

From what I can gather King started mouthing off about his watch being nicked( it was in his pocket all along allegedly) and Deano told him to wind his neck in.King then started giving it large about how Deano has 'dissed his homie' Jamie Lawrence( used to play for Bradford, same time as Deano).
Deano told him to **** off as he had always got on with Lawrence and a ruck ensued.

I might be way off the mark but that's how I understand how things happened.

OLM will have the definitive answer I'm sure.
