Don't know if you heard about those facebook videos doing the rounds reportedly showing a beheading? Well a mate sent me a link! Its not the sort of thing I would seek out on the internet but unfortunately my curiosity got the better of me! There are some things best left alone and some things that can't be unseen! I ain't squeamish and I've seen more than my fair share of death in my line of work. But the brutality and inhumanity of that video was horrific. This **** needs to be controlled in the same way as child pornography. I just want to warn folks if they come across this stuff just leave it well alone :-( ****ing nightmares tonight!
Curiosity v common sense regarding viewing a clip of someone seeing brutally murdered- I would like to think I would choose the latter, unfortunately with so much ****e available on the net it does give a the potential viewer a false sense of immunity when confronted with video clips thats out of the ordinary -Curiosity is the lust of the mind. It's been around since the video 'snuff' movies in the 1980's. It is of course vile and unacceptable, and I agree, the people who film and post this sort of crap should be put away. It also disturbs me that we become numbed and in some way immune to the true horror of this kind of thing, in the same way pictures of starving masses flood our TV news from time-to-time, the more we see these kind of images our reactions become increasingly indifferent.
I've not seen this one, but I have seen the one of Ken Bigley and another bloke. Not nice, but im a sucker for curiosity.
Ive watched that one, because of what he had done in his life, I felt pretty comfortable watching him die. He deserved it.
I think the mexican drug cartel one was launched on FB by peoples accounts being hacked. 5 of my mates posted it and I just thought "its a virus" so never bothered opening it. Pleased now after reading some of the things on here.
We are all such softies theses days a hundred years ago people queued up for a good hanging. Or going back a bit you got bigger crowds for a hung drawn and quartered event that you would a wembley cup final. People just loved that sort of stuff. Drowning women in case they were witches, burning heretics alive. All top spectator sports. We can't even kill our own pigs anymore. When and how did we become so sanitised?
Yup, T.B and polio are almost non-existent, we`ve stopped putting unmarried mothers in asylums and we`ve not had a decent plague at all in my (longish) lifetime. Progress eh...who needs it!Going soft
