Must have scored about 15 goals in half a season - and yet he doesn't get a chance on the bench for us!
I can't help but think there must be SOMETHING we don't know about. After all, surely no manager would be so stupid as to buy a player, give him a couple of games, decide at once that he just isn't up to scratch, and then refuse to try him out again? When the team are in the middle of an awful run and the existing forwards aren't firing? No manager could be that inanely rigid in his thinking, could he?
This is the very reason I started then thread in the first place. Unless he's (LB) has done something unforgivable away from football, the entire scenario makes no sense. Even Morison was getting a late run out every week when Holt started to tire? So we can't score in a brothel, can't even muster a shot on target in several recent matches, so we bring in a 19 goal striker - and proceed to ignore him
Following on from my last post, here's Hughton lamenting the fact that Norwich don't have an Agbonlahor or a Benteke? Well, maybe we do, Chris - if you'd only have given him a chance to settle in and get some service to him. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2013/05/06/3959464/-?
Chris - the reason we don't have any flair players or proven goal scorers is because you and your scouting/coaching team are so inept that you failed to sign/loan anyone in transfer window. You signed a proven goalscorer at Championship level and refused to play him. If you don't rate the guy and you ****ed up,at least come out and admit it. (even Roeder had the balls to do that, even though he was wrong in his assessment of players) You sign a player "for next season"?????????? If/when we get relegated there is no way RVW will be at Carrow Rd next season. Rant over.
Becchio is frustrating and not very good on the ball but he can score goals and in the situation u are in I reckon he should be risked.
I think it was the Reading game that he was reported to have stormed off. I remember someone telling me at the game that they had seen him get into a car and drive off from the ground.
To sign Becchio we lost Morrison. Logically CH must have thought that Becchio was better than Moro and yet Becchio is way lower down the pecking order than Moro was when he left. I am struggling to get my head around this. We are desparate for goals and the guy for all his shortcomings seems to be able to put the ball in the net. It would be nice to think that CH is a big enough man to either give the bloke a chance or hold his hand up and say he made a mistake signing him.
it would be a huge risk to play him vs WBA, although a risk that could pay off. CH doesn't do risks as we know. it's a risk as he has barely played for us. a last throw of the dice, akin to Cody Mac playing for us in the penultimate game (?) vs Reading in the 2008/09 season if i were the manager, i'd play him or jackson, or both. when was the last time holt scored from open play?
To be fair CH is caught between a rock and hard place. Stay with the same old, and the fans will have a go and WBA know what they are getting. Mix it up, like C-Max has said and the fans will have a go and WBA don't know what they are getting but we risk maybe not playing our best team. So for CH its heads they win, tails you loose!
This is the kind of thing which gets me so angry. We HAD a proven goalscorer, Chris - his name is Grant Holt. Except you have turned him into a shadow of his former self, which you have done to almost all of Lambert's squad. But all you can do is blame other people. The players aren't good enough. We didn't buy a top striker in January. Nothing to do with me. Nothing to do with me. Pathetic.
Becchio was known as a terrible trainer when he was at Leeds. This maybe why he is not getting a shot at the first team, maybe he is not showing the fight required to wear the Jeresey. This is just in his make up though, some players dont train well. As others have said, he's worth a punt now you really need goals. Snod seems to be doing well for you everytime I see you on MOTD though.
19 goals in half a season? I had know idea he was that prolific. Seriously, why the **** aren't we playing him?!?
if ruddy doesn't play on sunday, then the manager doesn't have a brain. bunn has been very good, but not on top form the last few games. ruddy is an england international, and his coming back would give the other guys a boost i'd have thought. on becchio, what are the chances of him being in the squad on sunday? 10% i'd say, even with Kei gone.
Snodgrass has probably been our most consistent player over the season. He is got better as the season has gone on, plus he has really bought into the club and you can tell after a short while he cares about any club he plays for. Similarly to Howson and Johnson. The thing about becchio being a bad trainer. Holt has a similar reputation, I've heard he is also a poor trainer. But that's how some players work, and i am sure Hughton will have known that when he signed the fella.
Of course, if he had been more positive before we wouldn't be relying on winning the last home game to have a chance of staying up.
Think we spent so much time trying to sign Hooper and Wolfswinkel in January, Becchio was a last minute panic buy. But with the goals he scored in the Championship, it is odd that he hasn't been given enough time to prove himself. But with Karama not here no more, maybe Becchio will actually get a chance this weekend.
