All this needs to be out in the open otherwise it's starting to turn into a festering sore. Brixton doesn't need this nor do his fellow mods. An open poll is needed where Sword's backers can step out of the shadows and clearly make their case. 15 of them are all that's needed and they get their wish: The loss of a great moderator who selflessly gives his time for us all and the 'gain' of a wind up merchant who has caused dissent, division and strife here. I for one am 100% gone if it's the latter. None of this should have been allowed to get to 240 posts in the first place.
anyway a vote not to ban swords in an open poll should not be seen as a vote against Brixton I personally think swords should not be banned I personally think Brixton should stay as a mod why cant both outcomes be allowed **** it...why don't we have duelling pistols(or swords oops)at dawn
Morning All, far too beautiful a morning to trawl through all the posts in this thread but I think I've gathered the gist of it. I do not wish to lose Brix as a moderator. I have no beef with Swords or any other QPR poster on here. If any individual posts something outrageous, I tend to treat it as I would a naughty toddle. Just ignore it otherwise the attention gained feeds the behaviour. After raising four kids, I know this well! This is not anti- anyone, but it is pro Brix. I wish good wisdom to 9's and Matt as they endeavor to sort this out hopefully definitively.
It's easy ... Swords and Brixton to remain and move on. Learn to ignore people you don't see eye to eye with. This episode i would have thought would be enough education for everyone on here... leave it there and let it work ... it will
Spot On DT..i fail to see why it cant happen too...just faily sure it wont. Neither proposed outcome will improve or aid our board. like I said...shame really.. As for an open poll, that's just ridiculous IMHO
......and as The Specials sang......'Its all a load of bollox, and bollox to it all' Just gets me wondering....If Swords just happened to be a Chelsea WUM, and wanted to spread disharmony and discontent on our board, then his OP certainly would of (and has) done the job......Just saying.
For the record, despite his scathing slurs in the OP against my mod character, I actually like Swords when he's behaving himself. Quality contributor. And that's the rub. If he wasn't, he'd have no support and would've been gone long ago without issue. We speak of 'lightening-up', putting him on 'ignore' and 'moving on'... Unfortunately we mods can't do any of that. We've often had to go to great lengths expending our PERSONAL time and effort cleaning up after him when he chooses to cause a rumpus. This entails fielding complaints from individuals targetted, issuing words of advice to the perpetrator (Swords in this case and many other cases), considering banning actions and similar, not to mention all the consultations and structures (rules etc.) we've had to set up to underpin what is and isn't offensive to the majority of users. Ask yourself: have these structures been created to protect users from YOU or your excesses? If you've never been cautioned by a mod (and that's the vast majority on here) then the answer's a clear and definitive 'no'. So why the need for rules, guidelines, consultations etc., etc. then? Swords often graciously apologises after the fact (only to repeat a similar offence at a later date) and assures us he's easy and doesn't care about bans issued. Bully for him - but that doesn't weigh off the mods for all THEIR personal time and agg.. As indicated in my last post, this nauseating, over-long thread is to some extent deliberate on my part. It personifies, if not his style exactly, then certainly both the effect of Swords' mischief - and what it costs to accommodate him (and other deliberate antagonists). I make no apology for that. The fact is though, that you the user, are lucky in that nothing forces you to read or respond to this thread. I take it those who do, do so because they care enough to restore a bit of order. I'm all for that - whether comments are for or agin me personally. But let's allow this thread do its job of serving as just indication / reminder of the costs of accommodating and supporting a deliberate mischief maker. After all, we can save all this by simply doing what most do on here. Show a bit of care and respect in what we put out. Very, very simple. FYI. As things stand, we have a mod panel deliberating Swords future on here. Whilst I am rightly not involved, I have made it clear to them that regardless of whether Swords is to stay, go or somewhere in between, I will fully respect and abide by their decision. This is not about me or personal agenda. It's about the best interests of the board - and what Nines and Matty are willing to accept going forward, taking Goldie's, NUTS' and my experience to date into account.
I sincerely have faith that our new two mods have more than enough sense to see how daft the thread has gone. I actually sense a whiff of sanitation about all of this ... If influence is seen to be used on this ridiculous stand off then it will be very sad IMO Something I wouldn't be proud of for sure.
