What difference does it make how much you have to spend when you bring in a loan striker who was used to playing in the Mickey Mouse league. We then bring in a 19 goal striker and don't play him. That is poor management nothing else.
If he keeps us up, then yes, he should, and I´d be surprised if he didn´t keep it. If we have to go down, then he´ll probably feel he has to resign, or McNally will feel pressurised to sack him, either way he´ll go, which may or may not be the right decision.
1) Villa have had four crunch games over the last few weeks and have won every one of them (QPR, Reading, Sunderland, us). We have had three crunch games over the last few weeks and have lost every one of them (Wigan, Stoke, Villa). That's the difference between a manager who can inspire and a manager who has no faith in his players. 2) With regard to having no evidence that next season will be the same, I suggest that we have. We have been on this bad run now for half a season. Has CH tried to significantly change it at all? Has he given different players a chance to prove themselves? No, we've had more of the same, same, same. And this is all the evidence I need that next year will be the same as this if CH stays, because he simply has zero imagination and zero adaptability.
I agree with every thing above except that we did win one out of 4 crunch games, you can't quote reading as a crunch game for Villa and then omit them for us! It was a better performance on Saturday but while stats will lie, 2 in 19 and as I lamented possibly 2 from 21 is not good enough! The play like we did against Arsenal, Villa etc and we'll be alright is running out of games and whilst I too believed we'd beat the drop its getting increasingly difficult to believe that we will get another point leave alone stay up. I can see Hoots and Calderwood now, "So Colin if we can only lose by 1 goal in each of our remaining games then we should stay above Newcastle on goal difference" Snoddy pipes up "but boss what if Newcastle win? We've got to go for the win!" Hughton respondes, "Its that sort of cavalier attitude that got us here in the first place, no it'll be 10-0-0, Grant you try and hit them on the break from deep and all of you remember that your not really good enough to stay up but try your best not to lose!"
